About the job

Would you like to become part of the Cancer Department? Are you passionate about cancer nursing and interested in short-term care nursing? If so, you now have the opportunity to apply for a position or a one-year temporary position in Clinic C as of January 1, 2027.

Who are we?

We are a staff group of 26 engaged, positive, caring and not least professionally strong colleagues. Age-wise we range from 29 to 62 years. We receive patients for medical cancer treatment and radiotherapy within the diagnoses of lung cancer, malignant melanoma, and unknown primary cancer. We meet patients of all ages and life phases. They can be in preventive, curative or palliative treatment. There are continuous changes and improvements, both regarding care and treatment with patient quality in focus.

We place high importance on developing nursing and support nursing projects, education and skills development. We are a clinic that values collegial interaction, both mono- and cross-disciplinary, very highly. We have a good work environment where there is room for both difficult emotions and high spirits.

Your primary tasks

You will work both in the outpatient clinic and the treatment department. This alternating arrangement provides good opportunities to follow the patients and gives a varied workday. In the outpatient clinic you will, in collaboration with a doctor, welcome new patients who need information about the Cancer Department's treatment options, talk with patients who are already in treatment with either medical cancer treatment and/or radiotherapy, patients who are taking a break or who need to discontinue treatment.

In the treatment department you will independently receive patients for medical cancer treatment. The nursing in the clinic is characterised by repetitive and short contacts with the individual patient. Therefore, there is a focus on short-term and contact nursing.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • has a minimum of 1 year's experience as a nurse
  • with your professionalism can challenge yourself and your colleagues
  • has good overview and can stay calm and cheerful in a busy day
  • has the desire and ability to guide and supervise nursing students and SOSU students
  • has the desire for challenges, development and changes
  • is flexible, proactive and can work independently as well as in a team, both mono- and cross-disciplinary
  • wants to contribute to maintaining a good working environment
  • wants to work with short-term nursing
  • sees opportunities rather than limitations
  • can take responsibility for own learning and for integration into the department.

We would very much like you to have experience with cancer nursing and be able to handle medical cancer treatment.

We can offer you

  • many wonderful, skilled and fun - both new and experienced colleagues with a good sense of community and consideration for each other
  • an exciting specialty in constant development
  • a professionally developmental environment
  • an introduction with assigned mentor
  • a close and good cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • a good working environment
  • psychologist for staff linked to the Cancer Department
  • e-learning course in medical cancer treatment.

The practical

Your daily working hours will be from 07:45 to 15:15 with occasional closing shifts to 16:30. We are open Monday to Friday, with weekends and holidays off, except for a few weekend days during Christmas and Easter. We collaborate with our inpatient wards, where our clinic contributes six nurses on weekend shifts every 6 weeks. Our upcoming colleague will therefore need to expect to join this arrangement in time. You will of course be trained for this task.

The application deadline is 12 November 2026 and we expect to hold interviews on Friday 20 November 2026.

You can find us at the Cancer Department, Entrance C, Palle Juul Jensens Boulevard 35, 8200 Aarhus N.

If you would like further information, you are welcome to contact Chief Nurse Bente Nielsen at tel. 2388 6875 or at email [email protected] . You can also find information at www.auh.dk/afdelinger/kraeftafdelingen/ .
