The self-governing institution ”Børnehaven Thorsanna” is seeking a head of department for 37 hours per week starting 1 November 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Do you want to help set the direction for the pedagogical work, then perhaps you are the one we are looking for as our new department head at Thorsanna Kindergarten. We are seeking a trained pedagogue who wants to try their hand at leadership – or who may already have experience with professional leadership and would like to combine leadership with being part of the pedagogical daily life.

On January 1, 2027, Thorsanna Kindergarten will become part of the kindergartens in Lumix Nord in the Self-governing cluster LUMIX. Lumix Nord will therefore from January 1 consist of 5 smaller kindergartens in one institution with centralized management, budgeting/finance, TRIO and a parental council. There will be a department head attached to all departments.

The departments are: Rødegård/Røde Møllegård Kindergarten, Nordstjernen Kindergarten, Hjems Kindergarten, Smyrnavej Kindergarten and Thorsanna Kindergarten.

Thorsanna Kindergarten is a kindergarten with a maximum capacity of 44 kindergarten children, of which 4 places are basic places. An institution that is very sought after and attractive for many parents, located at Gunløgsgade 65, on Amager. We are 4 pedagogues and 3 pedagogical assistants, as well as a kitchen staff member.

In addition to the address at Gunløgsgade, we also have a lovely “garden” located a short distance from the institution, at Artillerivej 67, with a large lovely playground and good indoor facilities. There is therefore ample opportunity to divide the children during the day and go for a walk into the garden.

Thorsanna is a relatively “older” institution, which has been located where it is for many years and although there is work with a common pedagogical value base in Lumix Nord, there is also room for – and respect that this can be manifested differently by the departments, which all have their own characteristics, traditions and in general a unique atmosphere for their respective department.

We are focused on relationships, routine situations, the learning environment and how we as adults take responsibility to create the best framework for the children's well-being, development, learning and participation in communities.

We have in the cluster for several years certified staff for ICDP (International Child Development Program) and continuously develop our internship network and language network in the cluster.

As department head in Thorsanna you will become part of the leadership team in Lumix Nord, which consists of 5 department heads and the pedagogical leader, all participating in the development of pedagogical practice in Lumix Nord. You do not have personnel or budget responsibility, but instead a clear professional mandate to make decisions in daily life and act on behalf of the pedagogical leader when agreed or necessary. The position is practice-oriented and you will also participate in staffing norms.

It is important that as department head you create space for professional debates, are receptive, follow up and ultimately be able to make the final decision when everyone has been heard.

Management and administrative tasks in the office primarily consist of coordinating schedules (hourly and absence registration), general communication to the parents on AULA, dialogue with the janitors/the property, implementation and coordination of various professional initiatives, and other smaller administrative tasks. The rest of the time you are part of the everyday life on the floor as an educator, which means you are close to the children, the staff and the pedagogical practice.
