Director of the Technical Area at Vordingborg Municipality - Job opening

Do you want to help shape Vordingborg Municipality's development and lead a technical area? Can you translate political ambitions into clear priorities and tangible results for the benefit of citizens and business? Then we are looking for you as the Director of the technical area.

Vordingborg Municipality is home to almost 45,000 residents and covers 620 km² with 385 km of coastline. Here the coast, nature, history and strong local communities meet. The three market towns – Præstø, Stege and Vordingborg – and the many villages and rural districts each have their own character and qualities. The qualities are great, and the potentials are even greater.

As Director you will become part of the executive management with shared responsibility for the municipality as a whole. The technical area is your special responsibility, but not the limit of your leadership. You will lead through two centre managers – Centre for Planning, Building and Internal Service and Centre for Roads, Nature and Environment – with a total of about 312 employees.

The area spans planning, building cases, climate, nature and environment, waterways, roads, traffic, construction, property, harbours as well as operating and service tasks. The position is established as part of expanding the executive management from three to four members.

With a newer municipal council, the political ambitions and priorities for the coming years must be concretized. You will therefore have a central role in the interaction between politics and administration. You must bring development opportunities forward, qualify political choices and translate the political direction into strategic priorities and concrete results that support settlement, business development and vibrant local communities.

You are first and foremost an experienced leader who can document strong leadership skills. You can motivate, generate enthusiasm, find ways and create solutions. You have a solid understanding of the technical area. You do not need to be a specialist in all disciplines, but you must be able to understand complexity, ask precise questions and see through the consequences of different choices.

You are strong in the political-administrative interaction and have strong relational competencies. You make complex issues understandable, reveal real options and advise clearly on consequences without taking over the political decision. When professional considerations, political wishes and economic constraints pull in different directions, you keep calm and have the courage to challenge and create clarity.
