About the job

At Havtornen we are in full swing creating a new children's house, where strong communities, high pedagogical quality and participation opportunities for all children are the focus. We are already well underway filling the house with life, play and learning, and now we are seeking a pedagogical department head who will help set the direction for further development.

As part of the management you will have a central role in shaping the pedagogical practice, strengthening the collaboration culture and creating a good working environment. You enter an exciting establishment phase, where we build on what already sprouts and prepare to welcome even more children and families. Havtornen, which today houses 90 children, opened its doors for children and parents on June 1, 2026, and on February 1, 2027 the last four rooms will open.

All new day-care facilities in Høje-Taastrup Municipality work with NEST, and staff are therefore trained in the method. You should be keen to translate NEST pedagogy into practice by creating participation opportunities for all children and developing inclusive learning environments, where each child experiences themselves as a meaningful part of the community.

About the position

As department head at Havtornen you report to the pedagogical leader Maria Fynsk, who also becomes your closest sparring partner. Staff management lies with the pedagogical leader, but you will have an important role in supporting the employees, strengthening professionalism and contributing to a good working environment.

You are close to children and staff in the pedagogical practice and function as a sparring partner for the employees. At the same time you help translate strategic decisions, professional goals and pedagogical ambitions into practice in collaboration with the pedagogical leader.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • facilitate development meetings, compass meetings, staff meetings and support reflection on practice
  • participate in and conduct parent conversations
  • support onboarding of new employees
  • engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration with targeted pedagogues on pedagogical practice and development
  • participate in PPR meetings with psychologist and speech-hearing consultant, child- and youth advisor, and others.

We offer

As department head you will have the opportunity to develop your competencies in leading pedagogical practice in close collaboration with the pedagogical leader. You will become part of an organization that in every sense stands on the values: Humanity and a positive life stance, Engagement, Professionalism and Wholeness.

In addition you will receive

  • introduction to methods from NEST and COS
  • knowledge of LAHOPL, which is an approach to working project-based
  • connection to a mentor in the onboarding period
  • a good working community and
  • opportunity for competence development related to leadership.

Who are you?

You are first and foremost driven by your pedagogical professionalism. You naturally take responsibility for development, quality and collaboration. You are motivated to support employees and contribute to a common professional direction.

We expect that you

  • are a trained pedagogue and have experience from day-care
  • have interest in or experience with professional leadership, guidance or coordination
  • are mindful to gain buy-in through dialogue, relationships and clear communication
  • base your work on the strengthened pedagogical curriculum when working on development of pedagogical quality
  • are structured and can translate and prioritize the many ideas that arise in daily life
  • can think creatively and outside the norm
  • are enthusiastic about both the serious and the playful in leadership.

Salary and employment

The position is full-time (37 hours). Employment from January 1, 2027.

Application deadline is Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

First interview will be held on Monday, November 16 and second interview on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. If you progress to the second interview, you must complete a questionnaire for a personality test and receive feedback on the result beforehand.

Salary and terms of employment according to the applicable collective agreement for pedagogues and New Pay.

A child and criminal background check as well as references will be obtained.

We encourage you to contact the pedagogical leader, Maria Fynsk, at telephone: 23811757, if you would like to visit or simply hear more about everyday life, the current focus areas and the concrete role.

We look forward to hearing from you.
