About the job

Do you want to help strengthen the efforts for children and adolescents with mental illness? The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Center (BUC) in the Capital Region of Denmark is looking for a project manager for the Quality and Improvement Unit, for a 2-year fixed-term position.

The child and adolescent psychiatry is undergoing rapid development these years. We need a project manager who can help ensure that our many development projects reach a successful conclusion. It could be you.

About the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Center

BUC is Denmark's largest child and adolescent psychiatry and treats children and adolescents from 0–17 years across the Capital Region of Denmark.

A child and adolescent psychiatry in the signs of change and reform

The entire healthcare system is undergoing a major transformation with the health structure reform. By the turn of the year 2026, integration between psychiatry and somatics came into effect, the acute package for child and adolescent psychiatry has just been launched – and in 2027 the Capital Region of Denmark and Region Zealand will merge into the Region of Eastern Denmark.

Equality in health, increased capacity and strengthening of the local healthcare services are central guiding principles for the ongoing reform work. One of the major tasks in the coming years is to ensure that BUC adapts in line with the reform's political ambitions.

To succeed with the large ambitions, we will in the coming years particularly focus on

  • To expand capacity especially in the outpatient area
  • To integrate the psychiatric and somatic efforts
  • To strengthen collaboration with municipalities and general practice
  • To strengthen our use of digital solutions
  • To work with leadership development and culture

  • Strategic sparring for Center management

We currently have 14 employees in the unit and are expanding now with one more project manager. We are based in Glostrup together with center management and the other staff units.

The role of the project manager

As a project manager you will work on a range of implementation and change projects. These could include supporting development in our diagnostic pathways, focusing on patient and relative involvement in the development of new offerings at BUC, strengthening collaboration with municipalities and general practice within the framework of the new Health Councils, and supporting development and strengthened psychotherapeutic pathways and rapid start of treatment.

You will have extensive contact with leadership and professional experts at BUC, and you can continuously develop together with your close colleagues in our well-functioning unit. It is therefore essential that you enjoy collaborating with others, and can switch between roles as project manager and project participant.

Our tasks are large and complex, and there is great attention on the area of children and young people with mental illness and developmental disorders. We need the best employees – and we set high requirements for your competencies.

We dream of a candidate who can nod to several of the following competencies and experiences:

  • You have a relevant academic education – for example public health science, health economics, sociology, political science, administration, economics (cand.polit) – or have acquired competencies that correspond to this level in another way.
  • You have solid project management skills and the willingness and courage to lead and facilitate development and change processes with broad stakeholder involvement.
  • You have experience from the health sector and/or from work with vulnerable children and young people.
  • You have a good understanding of public organizations and the political development in the health sector.
  • You naturally seek and maintain a wide network.

What can we offer?

We offer a rare meaningful job with the possibility to help strengthen the efforts for children and adolescents with mental illness and developmental disorders and their families. You will also become part of a professionally strong and well-regarded unit at BUC, where we have close collaboration and support each other in our task solving.

It is important to us that you are well prepared to perform the tasks you will undertake. You will therefore receive a thorough introduction to the job and to child and adolescent psychiatry. You will be assigned a mentor to become familiar with your tasks and your role.

You will become part of something bigger; namely the country’s largest child and adolescent psychiatric center. We have many of the top experts employed. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to learn a lot and help shape the future of psychiatry.

There are good possibilities to balance work and private life in our team, where we largely plan your own time and may work from home one day a week if meeting activity allows it.
