About the job

Would you like to be part of a dedicated team and contribute your skills to an exciting specialty?

We are looking for a skilled and autonomous nurse for the Forensic Psychiatric Outreach Team.

With us you get outbound work where you delve into long-standing, sustained contact with patients, in a well-functioning, experienced, collaborative and well-educated team.

The team is part of the forensic psychiatric department at the Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans and handles outpatient treatment for forensic psychiatric patients residing in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.

A bit about the job and your responsibilities

One of our central tasks is to help and support the patients to master as independent a life as possible. Our effort largely builds on creating a trust-building connection and involving relevant collaborators and relatives. We work based on the ACT model with a focus on being outreach, proactive, flexible and persistent.

In the team we have the treatment responsibility for 80 patients, most with diagnoses within the schizophrenia spectrum, and they are usually attached to the team for several years.

The patients’ problems are characterized by high complexity, and it is often a demanding task to help them, as motivation for treatment can be low, and they may have difficulties socializing. In addition, they have a long and high-risk criminal history and often also an addiction. As a team we therefore have a particular focus on reducing the risk of relapse and new crime.

A colleague’s view on the job

”It is precisely the challenging task and the long, sustained contact that makes you feel you are making full use of your competencies, which is very satisfying. In addition, we experience great patient satisfaction and good results with the long-term relational work.”

An exciting job, independence and professional sparring

We can offer an exciting and challenging job with engaged colleagues and a high degree of autonomy. In daily work there will be opportunities for professional sparring with your experienced nurse colleagues, in addition there will be ongoing opportunities to participate in internal training, supervision and relevant courses.

Your team

We are 14 in the team distributed across 6 nurses, a psychologist, a social worker, a medical secretary, a department head physician, a chief physician, a security assistant and a team leader.

The nurses function as primary contacts and several have specialized training in psychiatric nursing or forensic psychiatry. You will therefore enter a professional community with a high level of expertise. We have a good collaboration in the team and are good at helping each other.

Our expectations of you

  • You are a licensed nurse.
  • You are flexible and autonomous.
  • You are listening and understanding toward the patients and clear and respectful in your communication.
  • You manage to be persistent and enduring in contact despite rejection from the patients.
  • You are reflective and creative in your approach to the patients’ problems.
  • You seek good professional collaboration.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is 37 hours per week with start date by arrangement.

Salary and terms of employment follow the collective agreement for non-management staff in the Sundhedskartel area concluded between Sundhedskartellets parties, including the Danish Nurses’ Organization and RLTN with salary placement as a nurse.

The outpatient clinic is open during daytime hours Monday to Friday. Your working hours will therefore primarily fall within this period. You are employed in mixed shifts with primarily daytime shifts.

As a new nurse you will also be attached to a specific 24-hour ward, where you will participate in on-call work on Saturdays and Sundays every 6th week. We will of course ensure you are well prepared for the task. This happens through an individual introduction program, knowledge sharing and sparring with colleagues. And it happens through ongoing competence development based on your experiences and needs.

We look forward to hearing from you

If you find the above interesting, we are very interested in hearing about your motivation to become part of our outpatient team.
