About the job

New year – new job?

At B1 we work with long-term patient pathways. It gives us the opportunity to work with something that can be a rare commodity in the healthcare system: Continuity.

We get to know the patients. We follow their development. We adjust the efforts when something doesn’t work. And we get the opportunity to see the impact of our work over time.

In forensic psychiatry the coherent effort is important because treatment and development often require both time, patience and perseverance.

B1 is a closed forensic psychiatric inpatient ward at Sct. Hans in Roskilde, where people with severe mental illnesses, often schizophrenia, are admitted for treatment. They may also have cognitive difficulties, social challenges and a use of substances.

The patients have a legal treatment order, and our task is both to treat, rehabilitate and prevent new crime.

Clinical responsibility – with a view beyond the illness

At B1 you become the care pathway lead for up to four patients. You help coordinate the treatment and ensure coherence between the clinical assessments, treatment plans and the patients’ daily life.

You work with psychiatric and somatic nursing, medical treatment, observation, risk assessment and documentation.

But the nursing also takes place other places than at the computer and the medicine trolley.

It can be during a conversation, a walk, a game of badminton or over a cup of coffee with a patient who otherwise has difficulty opening up.

These situations provide opportunities to work with relationships, observe changes and support the patient’s development.

It’s not a break from nursing. It is also nursing.

Independent responsibility does not mean that you stand alone

We work in fixed interprofessional teams with nurses, social and health care assistants, pedagogues, doctors and other professionals.

We share our observations, are curious about each other’s professional assessments and take joint responsibility for the patients’ treatment.

And safety?

We take it seriously. In the work with the patients there is always a colleague nearby, whom you can see or hear. We do not work alone.

We take our work seriously, but there is also room for humor and a good laugh. We help each other, both when everyday life is demanding and when things go well.

Forensic psychiatry? You don’t need to be able to do this in advance.

Perhaps you come from somatics. Perhaps you are a recent graduate. Or perhaps you have worked in psychiatry for many years.

The most important is that you are professionally curious, can take responsibility and want to learn the specialty.

We offer

  • Thorough introduction and mentor program.
  • Four-day course in conflict management.
  • Supervision by the ward’s psychologist and close professional sparring, including from our clinical nursing specialist.
  • High staffing levels and good opportunities for professional development.

We are based in Udsigten – a modern building close to Roskilde Fjord with good facilities for both patients and staff.

Salary and terms of employment

Start date is 01.01.2027 or after agreement.

Salary and terms of employment follow the collective agreement for non-management staff in the Health Collective area negotiated between the Health Collective parties, including Danish Nurses’ Organization and RLTN with salary placement as a nurse.

The inpatient unit is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be planned with mixed shifts in accordance with the rules of the applicable working time agreement.

The position is primarily a mix of day and evening shifts. There is currently weekend duty every other weekend, but we are working on a model that in time can provide fewer working weekends.

You are employed at Amager and Hvidovre Hospital, Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans.

Have you become curious?

You do not need to know in advance whether forensic psychiatry is for you.

Call Chief Nurse Martin Corlin Christensen at 38 64 23 36 , or stop by for an informal cup of coffee and a tour.

Then you can meet us, see the ward and get a feel for everyday life at B1.

We look forward to receiving your application and your CV via the link on the page.

Application deadline: 22.11.2026

Interviews will be held continuously.
