About the job

The Danish Immigration Service is seeking dedicated clerical officers and legal assistants for the Visa Office, located in Næstved. We offer you a thorough introduction and exciting opportunity to work with cases that matter for the individual and for society.

In the Danish Immigration Service we ensure that the right people obtain residence and protection in Denmark, and that the right people are refused. We counter abuse and contribute to society's security.

We have big ambitions to deliver high-quality case processing, to be an organization that keeps up with the times and adapts to changes, and to be an attractive workplace with focus on professionalism, well-being and development of the agency and of each employee.

About the Visa Office

The Visa Office's main task is to ensure that the right people have the opportunity to enter the Schengen countries while countering abuse of visa rules. We process applications for visas to Denmark, both as a first instance and as an appeal body.

The Visa Office is part of the Immigration Service's Center for Residence, which among other things handles visa cases, applications for family reunification, including extension cases, permanent residence, withdrawal and withdrawal of residence permits in the family reunification area, and in addition we have our Citizen Service with in-person and telephone assistance as well as case handling of passports and certain residence cards for foreigners.

About the positions

In the Visa Office you will primarily process and assess complex visa cases based on both Danish law and EU rules, where administrative law, data protection and much more play a significant role.

If you are applying for a position as an attorney, your tasks will include, among other things:

  • conduct legal assessments of visa applications and write well-founded decisions in English and Danish
  • communicate with Danish representations and applicants in Danish and English
  • advise citizens both in writing and by phone about all parts of the visa area
  • in time try your hand at writing opinions to the appeals body, handling information access requests and performing general tasks

If you are applying for a position as a clerical officer, your tasks will include

  • lighter case processing with decisions in English and Danish
  • handling incoming emails
  • administrative tasks

In the Danish Immigration Service we prioritize mobility and competency development of our employees. This means that we would like you to be open during your career with us to move to other tasks and offices, both within the Danish Immigration Service, but it could also be to other parts of the group.

What do we offer?

  • a thorough introduction and ongoing competence development
  • an interdisciplinary office with about 50 colleagues with different professional backgrounds
  • a workplace that prioritizes collaboration, quality and service
  • flexibility, with the possibility of home work at some point

About you

You have either a relevant social science master's degree (e.g., cand.jur. or cand.scient.pol.), and if you are applying for a clerical officer position, you have for example an office education or another relevant education and experience.

In addition, we imagine that you

  • have an interest in case processing and administrative law – preferably with experience, including from student jobs if you are a recent graduate
  • are responsible about your tasks as the Immigration Service's outward representative
  • are thorough and at the same time efficient
  • are good at expressing yourself in Danish and English, both written and spoken
  • thrive with deadlines and working as a team
