Operations Manager sought for the Viby Operations Unit at the Material Yard, Roskilde Municipality

Materielgården seeks a strong and engaged operations manager for 'Viby' - one of our 4 green operating units, which is one of our largest units and constitutes the southern part of Roskilde Municipality.

We are looking for a strong people leader who is passionate about driving and developing the green areas in the municipality of all times together with staff and fellow operations managers.

As our operations manager, you will be responsible for planning and leading operational tasks within, among other things, parks, green spaces and municipal institutions, primarily in the southern part of Roskilde Municipality, but also with tasks in our cross-cutting areas. We prioritize cross-functional operations, such as our carpentry department located in Viby, just as we have ambitions for a cross-cutting area with nature management. You will have day-to-day managerial responsibility for about 20 engaged and professionally skilled employees in a well-functioning unit.

Your daily workplace will primarily be at the operating unit (with an independent material yard) in Viby together with your staff, but you also have your natural presence at our central material yard in Roskilde. In fact, large parts of the municipality will become your new workplace, as your employees perform tasks across a wide part of the municipality. We emphasize visible and acknowledging leadership, and your employees expect you to involve them in task solving. There is many years of experience in your unit, which will benefit you, while no one is afraid to think innovatively.

We work in a BUM model (Bestiller-Udfører-Modtager), and you must, in collaboration with colleagues at the Materielgården and the clients at the town hall, help to further develop and optimize operations in the BUM model. At the same time we operate increasingly with nature, environment and biodiversity as goals, giving you the opportunity to unfold the full spectrum of your competences through your employees.

Materielgården Materielgården has approximately 125 permanent employees. The core task is the maintenance and care of the municipality's roads and green areas, including institutions and schools' outdoor areas. We are partially tendered, which means that we operate as a private contractor where competitiveness, quality and safe delivery go hand in hand.

Our biggest client is colleagues at the town hall, who are responsible for most of our larger contracts. You will therefore have a close collaboration, characterized by mutual respect.

You may have a professional education as a forest and landscape engineer, urban landscape engineer, groundskeeper or equivalent. But your educational and experiential background may differ. It is crucial that you are a strong operations and people leader with respect and understanding for all the good we have, combined with visions and curiosity for all that we will…

Interviews We will hold 1st interviews on Wednesday, November 25, 2026.

2nd interviews with selected candidates will be held Friday, November 27, 2026.

Before the 2nd interview, a leadership case will be provided to be prepared. During the interview we will, among other things, base the discussion on the case, which you will be allowed to present to the hiring committee.

We expect to make a hiring decision following the second interview round. Start date is January 1, 2027 or earlier.
