Educator or Occupational Therapist for the Activity House in Vildbjerg

Do you want to create meaningful work communities and a daily life with participation, development and mastery? Activity House in Vildbjerg is seeking a trained pedagogue or occupational therapist for a position of 30-32 hours per week. You will primarily be attached to our protected employment and at the same time have a daily work life with collaboration across the house.

Activity House in Vildbjerg is part of the Learning Offers and provides activity and social opportunities under the Danish Social Services Act § 104 as well as protected employment under § 103 for adults with significantly reduced physical and/or mental abilities. We have about 30 residents, almost evenly distributed between the two sections.

The Learning Offers also include Tre Birke and Birkelund. In total, about 170 adult residents with various developmental disabilities are connected to the Learning Offers.

Our core task is to support each resident's development, quality of life and the possibility of a meaningful life. We start from the residents' own hopes, wishes and dreams and create opportunities for them to use and develop their competencies. Regardless of functional level, each person should feel that they belong, are needed and contribute to the community.

We design tasks and activities based on each resident's prerequisites and opportunities for participation. Our professional reflection takes its starting point in the ethical landscape with the four ethics: duty ethics, consequence ethics, proximity ethics and vitality ethics.

We support and guide residents towards the greatest possible independence in work tasks, daily practical tasks and activities. We create structure and predictability with support systems, Boardmaker, other visual pedagogical tools and alternative communication forms that are tailored to the individual.

The job

Your task is to plan, adjust and support the work so that the individual can participate with their resources and develop their skills. You must be able to work independently, sense the residents' signals and adapt your support to their individual needs. Activity House is a small unit where we help each other and solve tasks across the house.

In the activity and social offerings we plan meaningful and developing activities based on the individual resident's interests and prerequisites. This can include creative activities, exercise, sensory experiences, nature trips, practical tasks and music.

At the Learning Offers there is room for initiative and ideas that can be translated into daily practice. The Learning Offers collect and drop off residents who cannot transport themselves, and driving in our buses is therefore part of the job.

We expect that you

• are a trained pedagogue or occupational therapist – preferably with experience from protected employment
• have professional insight into and preferably experience with sensory stimulation, support systems and alternative communication forms and can tailor the support to the individual resident
• have an overview and can create calm, structure and predictability in daily life
• are proactive, can rethink daily practice and follow your ideas through
• can work independently, have a focus on the core task and reflect on your own and collective practice
• involve residents in daily tasks and activities and support their initiatives, hopes, wishes and dreams
• are flexible and thrive on changes and collaboration across the house
• can navigate diverse and complex tasks and prioritize your time
• are patient and persistent in the pedagogical work
• collaborate constructively and contribute to finding common solutions
• can keep calm and maintain professional overview in pressurised situations
• have a category B driving license and are willing to drive our buses to pick up and drop off residents.

The position is 30-32 hours per week, and the working hours are primarily Monday to Friday 08.00-17.00.

If you would prefer a 37-hour position, there is an option to supplement hours at the Learning Offers or elsewhere in Disability and Psychiatry. The supplementary hours generally involve work every 3rd weekend.

Salary and terms of employment are agreed based on the applicable collective agreement.
