About the job

Would you like to kickstart your career in geotechnics, and would you like to learn how geotechnical investigations and consulting are planned and carried out on some of Denmark's largest road projects? Then you might be our new intern for spring 2027.

At the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) we work every day to create coherence for the many road users who use the Danish national highways.

On the basis of Infrastructure Agreement 2035, we have gained many new projects at the Road Directorate, where we will build new roads and expand the existing road network. In connection with planning, design and construction, the Geotechnics and Foundation department is responsible for planning and procuring geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations as well as the accompanying consulting and design. The work is carried out by external consultants and suppliers, while we as the client order, coordinate and follow up on the deliveries in close collaboration with the projects and other disciplines.

“As an intern you will have the opportunity to follow and influence the geotechnical tasks from the initial investigations to the consultants' deliverables and further into the road project. You will gain insight into both the professional assessments and the role of a professional client,” says department head Kim André Larsen.

Your tasks at Geotechnics and Foundation

Together with the department's geotechnicians, hydrogeologists and other technical specialists you will among other things:

  • plan and order geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations and geotechnical consulting/design
  • participate in coordination and follow-up on the consultants' work, schedules and deliverables
  • contribute to professional acceptance checks of geotechnical reports
  • work with structuring and communication of geotechnical data and results
  • work closely with the project's professionals within e.g. road planning, drainage, environment and structure as well as project managers
  • gain insight into the Road Directorate's rules, guidelines and requirements within geotechnics and foundation.

“You will be professionally challenged through tasks tailored to your experience and your competencies, so you get a learning and development-oriented internship,” concludes Kim André Larsen.

Your profile

We hope you

  • have a good theoretical foundation that you can use in your daily tasks
  • approach your share of the tasks with enthusiasm, curiosity and good humor
  • can communicate in Danish or English both spoken and written
