About the job

  • Department of Children & Family

The Youth Team in the Department of Children & Family in Slagelse Municipality is looking for a professional coordinator — Is that you?

Would you like to become part of a professionally strong and ambitious children and family department where high quality and professional development are on the agenda, and where wellbeing and good collegiality are highly valued – then here is the opportunity.

As our professional coordinator moves on to new challenges, we now need a skilled professional coordinator to support our Youth Team.

The coordinator's task is to support and strengthen the already high professional level in the department.

As a professional coordinator you will be part of the response team as well as part of a professional work community with the department's other three professional coordinators, where work is done closely across all teams.

Who are we?

In the Department of Children and Family we are about 125 staff. We consist of two district teams handling cases for the age group 0-13 years, a Youth Team covering the age group 14-18 years (22), and a Disability Team handling cases for children and young people with reduced functioning in the age range 0-23 years. In each team there is an assigned team leader and a professional coordinator, which ensures close professional and personnel support and leadership.

In addition to governance advisers, each team also includes a number of prevention advisers who contribute to early and preventive efforts as well as strengthened collaboration with our general services area. In addition to governance teams we also have a Family Foster Care Team and an administration.

Our centre consists, in addition to governance, of a number of internal services, including a 24-hour service and four family houses that handle family-related interventions.

The vacant position is in the Youth Team, and it is essential that you have in-depth knowledge of and extensive experience with this specific area. It is very independent work, and it will be of great importance that you can work independently, take independent responsibility, prioritise tasks and provide competent professional sparring to the team.

High professional quality and development

With us you will become part of a development- and learning-oriented department, where we focus on the best current knowledge in the field and on the good practice experiences that exist in our department.

In addition to a strengthened focus on involvement and close collaboration with the child and family, we are also focused on ensuring more holistic and coordinated efforts in close interaction with the general services area and with our skilled partners in the intervention area. You will therefore experience a municipality where, across departments and sectors, we take joint responsibility and contribute to the best solutions for the benefit of the child, the young person and the family.

As a department and in the individual teams we are characterized by a strong collegial cohesion, where we value a positive and humorous atmosphere highly.

Your role

As the professional coordinator you will work in close collaboration with the team leader to support the professional development in the team and in the department.

The tasks include among other things

  • ensuring legal compliance, including through case reviews
  • positively contributing to strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration as well as involvement of the family and the network
  • being a mentor for newly employed staff
  • responsible for assessing incoming notifications and for the distribution of cases
  • responsible for close sparring in particularly conflict-rich cases, including placement cases
  • supporting and ensuring quality in coercive cases and UKN-cases
  • co-leading team meetings, professional direction and development in the team

Your qualifications

  • are trained as a social worker or social facilitator and have experience from the children and youth area, preferably from a similar coordinating role
  • are experienced in the use of DUBU
  • are resource- and relationship-oriented
  • want to join and contribute to a learning- and development-oriented organisation where your professionalism and experience are put to use
  • are able to give constructive feedback and guide and mentor the advisers
  • contribute to an appreciative culture where we all take responsibility for a good working environment
  • have a driving licence, as Slagelse Municipality covers a large geographic area. The municipality provides loaner cars
