The Family Department's Reception is seeking a child and youth counselor.

We are looking for a colleague for the Family Department's Reception with a start date of 1 December 2026. The position is 37 hours.

The Family Department is spread over 2 sites. The Reception has an office in the Family Department, Centrumpladsen 7, 2nd floor, 5700 Svendborg, which will be your workplace.

In the reception, we are the first entry point for children, youths and their families when there is a need for help and support. Our goal is to create security in the meeting with everyone who seeks help, and to build a trusting collaboration with the families, so that we together can ensure the right help as early as possible.

Core tasks in the reception

• First contact to the Family Department – inquiries and referrals.
• Involvement of children and youths.
• Shift and standby in the Family Department's Reception.
• Advice and guidance to families, children and youths
• Screening/assessment of referrals, and actions here
• Enter into collaboration with the professionals who make referrals
• Initiate preventive and acute interventions
• Consultation to partners
• Qualitative handovers of cases to the Family Department's other teams.

About the job

The Family Department's Reception handles the initial authority intervention when there is a concern for a child or young person. We receive and assess referrals, carry out 24-hour assessments and screenings, and manage acute cases, including conversations with children about violence and abuse and participation in interrogations e.g. at Børnehus Syd.

As a child and youth advisor in the Reception you should expect a varied and unpredictable everyday life with administrative work, observations, citizen contact, planning and holding meetings and conversations. We are looking for a curious and responsible colleague who can stay calm in difficult situations, and who would like to be part of a team that raises the first link in the social authorities work.

About you

• You are trained social worker/social facilitator
• You have broad experience from the child and youth field
• You love to involve all children and youths
• You like being challenged - you dare to set the agenda and take case and meeting leadership on yourself
• You work independently and are prepared for close teamwork, both in your own team, in the department and across professional disciplines and sectors.
• You have good collaboration skills and are fond of systematic social-educational work and coordinating case handling.
• You have worked with the Child Act and have extensive knowledge of children and youths.
• You have knowledge of the specialized area – including disability-compensating support options.
• You have good communication skills and administrative flair
• You are familiar with ICS and DUBU

Salary and employment

Salary and terms of employment according to applicable collective agreement.

In Svendborg Municipality, the salary for this type of position typically lies between 41,951.00 and 53,034.00 DKK per month for full-time employment. The salary includes pension, special vacation pay and fixed allowances. There may also be shift allowances and other special payments. It is important to note that your actual salary is determined by your experience, seniority and competences and negotiated with the relevant professional organization.

HR department will obtain a criminal record and child protection background check for the successful applicant. It is a condition of employment that the certificates are satisfactory for the position. The assessment is made by the Legal Department in collaboration with the area director.
