About the job

Hammershøj School seeks a mathematics teacher with a specialized profile to support neurodivergent students

As our relatively newly employed colleague has chosen to seek new challenges, we are looking for a academically strong mathematics teacher for our Lagune offer.

We are looking for an employee with solid special education competencies and a strong relationship-oriented approach.

You must have an eye for the individual student's needs, be able to create safe and meaningful learning communities, and be ready to think creatively and flexibly in the work of building and maintaining relationships.

In Lagunen we work purposefully to create participation opportunities for neurodivergent students. We are therefore seeking a colleague who can bring their mathematics subject strength into play and at the same time thrive in a daily life where clear relationships, special education insight and strong collaboration are crucial for the students' well-being and development.

Participation opportunities for all students

  • We focus on creating participation opportunities and privileged positions for all children and young people.
  • We work with mid-form approaches – both regarding staff mindset (competence development) and a physical mid-form offering, Lagunen.
  • All students from 0th grade – 9th grade work with “weekly timetables”.
  • We work with child communities across ages and abilities.
  • We have an After-School Club (SFO) where we focus on movement, creativity and unity.

Lagunen

Lagunen is a local inclusion initiative at Hammershøj School. As a starting point, this offering is a time-limited program for students from 0th-9th grade who have difficulty attending school or have special challenges with their schooling. The students in Lagunen get time to learn and develop in a structured learning community. Here we support that the students develop a positive self-image, and their difficulties recede.

The adults try out methods, frameworks of understanding and adjust along the way, so the students are scaffolded as well as possible in their individual development. A common factor for the students is that they all benefit from engaging in close, appreciative relationships and thrive in a predictable, structured learning environment.

Our new employee must have

  • Experience with structured pedagogy and autism pedagogy.
  • Low-arousal and non-confrontational pedagogy.
  • Goal-oriented.
  • Willingness to work based on different individual learning goals and mastery methods.
  • Believes that we should go to great lengths to include all children in their local environment.
  • Considers parents as resources to be taken seriously while you can stand by your professional judgments.

You can expect

  • A demanding and very exciting job – a job where you make a real difference.
  • Recognition and sparring from management and colleagues – you are never alone in the task.
  • Becoming part of a very positive environment where we take care of each other.
  • An workplace in rapid development where we dare to try ideas and initiatives.

Hammershøj School

The school is well-functioning and an ambitious school, located in lovely, green surroundings, where the school and SFO continuously work with Viborg Municipality's objectives. Our shared vision is that all children should have the sparkle in their eyes and master their own lives. We want a school where all children should become as skilled as they can, while well-being is high. Hammershøj School is a school where we as a rule have a track (0th grade – 9th grade) – though there are exceptions.

We are about 200 students and about 36 staff. SFO is housed at the school and has about 80 children enrolled. We have a club offer attached to the school for students from 4th grade to 6th grade. The school is located in the eastern part of Viborg Municipality.
