Head of Accounting

Do you want to help ensure a professional and value-creating management of Denmark's subsurface and its resources? North Sea Fund (Nordsøfonden) is seeking a strong professional profile for a central role as Chief Accountant, where you will be responsible for accounting, tax, financial reporting and financial compliance in an organization of great societal significance.

About the position As Chief Accountant at Nordsøfonden you will have a wide range of professionally challenging and development-focused tasks as well as the operational responsibility for the company's accounting and tax function in close collaboration with the CFO. You will ensure high quality in financial reporting, a strong control environment and timely and correct handling of the company's accounting- and tax-related matters.

Your responsibilities include among others

• Preparation and quality assurance of annual reports and coordination of the process towards approval
• Handling, planning and coordination of the annual audit in close cooperation with the auditor
• Responsible for self-assessment and other tax matters as well as ongoing dialogue with relevant advisors and authorities
• Ensuring correct and timely handling of general accounting and tax issues, including in connection with new projects
• Ongoing follow-up (financial controlling) on activities in the licenses and participation in partner audits
• Preparation and further development of our board and management reporting as well as relevant analyses
• Responsibility for the development of climate accounting and climate-related reporting
• Liquidity management

About you You work in a structured and proactive manner and are able to create overview, even when there are many deadlines and stakeholders. You ensure that accounting, tax, auditing, internal controls and reporting are handled timely and with high quality. At the same time, you focus on how the finance function can best support the business, and you continuously challenge and develop existing processes and controls to create an efficient, scalable and robust finance function.

We expect you to quickly acquire new knowledge. Nordsøfonden operates within an area with specific accounting- and tax-related conditions linked to oil and gas activities, including crude oil tax.

The role requires you to communicate complex financial matters clearly and precisely to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. You are therefore expected to be a strong sparring partner for the management and able to translate financial data into relevant insights and recommendations. It is also expected that you are a strong partner in dialogues with authorities, auditors, partners and co-owners in the assets in which Nordsøfonden participates. Some contact will take place in English.

We imagine you have a relevant economic education, for example cand.merc.aud., cand.merc., HD(R) or equivalent, and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience from a similar position and/or a larger audit firm.

You have a solid professional understanding of accounting, auditing and tax. Experience with management reporting, board reporting and climate accounts will be an advantage.

Your upcoming workplace North Sea Fund is the state’s subsurface company, which manages the state’s participation in the Danish oil and gas licenses and the Danish CO₂ storage licenses. Our task is to create value by leveraging the subsurface’s potential to the benefit of Danish society. We are not-operating when we participate in oil and gas production, and when we contribute to CO₂ storage. We are currently involved in 4 oil and gas licenses and 7 CO₂ storage licenses, and our net revenue is around DKK 4 billion.

Starting as soon as possible after agreement. You will be employed under the Danish State Academic Employees’ Agreement with the possibility of negotiating additional pay. Applicants must be able to obtain the necessary security clearance and maintain it throughout the employment period.
