Head of Department for Nature, Environment and Roads in the Climate and Environment Administration

The Climate and Environment Administration is a relatively young administration, which has been set up to focus precisely on climate, environment and nature. The administration is still carried by a special pioneer spirit, and with our councilor in the lead we go to work every day to lift the many exciting tasks and translate green ambitions into concrete results.

As Department Head for Nature, Environment and Roads you will get a rarely broad and influential leadership role and a unique opportunity to develop the area in close interaction with the committee, the councilor and the skilled leaders and employees. You come very close to the political decisions and you will have responsibility for a strong department, which ranges from heavy operations and complex regulatory tasks to climate adaptation, nature and green transition. Here you can set the direction for solutions that can be seen in the cityscape and felt in citizens’ everyday lives.

Nature, Environment and Roads is responsible for a wide range of tasks within nature, environment, water environment, waste, roads, parks and cemeteries. As department head you will have the overall responsibility for the area and become the leader of four office heads and an organization with about 135 employees. You will be part of the administration’s top management and play an important role in the interaction between the political level, the management and the organization.

There are a number of significant tasks in the coming years. Nature and forest projects must be realized, the waste area is under development, and there is continued focus on creating strong solutions within the environment, water management and the daily operation of the municipality’s roads, parks and green areas. At the same time, the department’s professional expertise must be translated into solid political advice and decision basis.

We are looking for a manager who can create a common course in a department with a large professional breadth. You have experience from a politically governed organization and the ability to navigate safely between strategic agendas, operational challenges and complex regulatory tasks. You are passionate about the area, take responsibility and find the right balance between decisiveness, holistic view and consideration. As a leader of leaders you are a strong sparring partner, who builds trust, gathers different perspectives and translates them into common solutions.

You want to explore new paths and develop solutions in close collaboration with leaders, employees, citizens, businesses and other partners. At the same time you thrive with dialogue and can lead changes that are created in collaboration with the city. You work clearly and consistently with the basis in the administration’s strategies and the municipality’s common leadership principles.
