Head of Department for the Center for Health – close to political decision-making and the development of the local health care system

Do you want to help make a difference for Copenhagen residents and lead a professionally strong department in Denmark's largest municipality?

As Head of Near Health, you will play a central role in developing the municipal health services and have the opportunity to work closely with the political decisions that shape the health sector in Copenhagen. With the health reform, more tasks are moved closer to citizens, and collaboration between the municipality, region, hospitals and general practice becomes even more important.

Your leadership task

As head of department you lead 16 professionally strong employees, but your managerial responsibility extends beyond your own department. You must create direction and buy-in in the management of your employees, actively contribute to the management of the center and upwards in the organisation and create forward momentum together with management colleagues, operating units and partners in the rest of the health sector.

An important part of the leadership task lies in the political and strategic agendas in the health sector. You will be responsible for the department's contribution to, among other things, the health reform and the Health Council Capital Region, and you must be present where new solutions, collaborations and interfaces in the health sector are shaped. You represent the center in relevant collaborations and must be able to connect what happens outside the center with the department's and the administration's work.

You also need to be able to qualify decisions upwards in the organisation by translating complex professional knowledge into clear problem statements, recommendations and a decision basis.

The employees have high professional knowledge and great independence in task execution. Your job is to ensure coherence between tasks, resources and priorities and to give room for the employees' professional judgment and responsibility.

The department's work ranges from tasks that require fast and qualified deliveries to long-term development of professional solutions. You must be able to navigate between both parts and maintain the link between high health professionalism, political priorities and solutions that work in practice.

About you

You have relevant management experience and experience from a leadership role where you set direction and create the framework for staff professionalism and independence to be used in the best possible way.

As Head of Department you become part of the center's leadership team. Together with the other department heads and the Director of Health, you share responsibility for the center's overall task and for developing collaboration and a common direction across the center.

Center for Health has strategic, development and operational tasks and sets the professional framework for coherent, high-quality health efforts. We support professional development in the health sector including nursing and rehabilitation, operate a number of citywide health services and develop solutions in close cooperation with other municipalities, general practice and the hospitals in our Health Council.

Employment terms

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and negotiated on the basis of qualifications. Start date 1 January 2027. References will be sought when offering employment.
