About the job

We are looking for a colleague who wants to make a real difference for our citizens at Støttecenter Bryghuset. A colleague who can be professional without becoming impersonal and who dares to stand beside a person – even when the road is difficult.

Do you have a strong professional commitment, can you maintain a professional overview in complex situations, and do you want to help create a safe, structured and meaningful everyday life, where the citizen is at the wheel? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for for our small, close team.

At Støttecenter Bryghuset there live 10 citizens aged 26-75 years. Most of the citizens have a cognitive disability and several of them, combined with various mental challenges. They need support for everything from reassuring conversations and structuring daily life to accompaniment out of the house.

Staff guidance and support originate from the support center's premises, which is an independent housing that contains a large common room and staff office. The primary support, however, takes place in the citizens' own homes.

The citizens are all able to be self-reliant in the late evening hours and at night.

The staff are primarily available in the time 07 - 19 on weekdays, as well as 09 - 17 on weekends and holidays. The opening hours can however vary according to the citizens' needs.

Any healthcare tasks are fully handled by home care, which is why there is no personal care included in our tasks with the citizens.

Our foundation – Credibility, inclusiveness and curiosity

We place emphasis on high professional standards, presence and a respectful view of people, which sees the citizen before their diagnosis or challenges.

We believe that good pedagogical work starts from the individual citizen's well-being, including the citizen's individual needs, resources, development and perspective – not based on standard solutions or our own ideas of how a “normal” life should look. We therefore support, guide and motivate the citizens, based on each citizen's individual wishes, hopes and dreams.

To make a real difference for the citizens, we work from a basis of a number of methodological frameworks:

  • Recovery and Rehabilitation: We must not "fix" or "save" the citizen. Our task is to help create structure and frameworks for the citizen to develop and master their own life, in the best possible way.
  • LA2 (Low Arousal): We meet behavior with curiosity and exploration rather than control. We maintain calm, accommodate the unpredictable and adjust our own approach to reduce stress and conflicts.
  • KRAP and Neuropedagogy: We start from the citizen's cognitive resources and help build strategies that create success experiences in daily life.

We offer our upcoming colleague

  • To become part of a small cross-disciplinary team of 4, where we are curious about each other’s perspectives and reflect together in an informal manner.
  • A work environment driven by professional discussions, where we hold fast to the common professional direction and believe that the result becomes stronger when we work together.
  • Colleagues who place our shared well-being at the forefront and both give and expect to receive feedback on the work.
  • An unpredictable everyday life within a predictable framework, but which is still in constant development, because you collaborate with people every day.
  • Opportunity to apply your professional skills in cooperation with colleagues and our unique citizen group with each their own personality and different support needs.
  • Professional framing with the possibility for both individual competence development and supervision.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • Has a social science education (e.g., pedagogue, occupational therapist, social worker or similar) and who is passionate about applying their professional skills.
  • Meets the citizen with presence and respect, but at the same time dares to have difficult conversations and set requirements that are professionally justified and tailored to the individual citizen.
  • Is a loyal team player who is focused on building up – relationally, professionally and humanly.
  • Is proactive and has initiative and is not afraid to take the lead in task solving.
  • Is familiar with documenting the professional work (we use Nexus and Microsoft).
  • Can work independently and thrives with working alone in the evenings and on weekends, and is flexible regarding changing work hours (expect weekend shift every 3rd weekend).

If you can see yourself in a workplace community carried by presence and shared professional discussions and agreements, where we take pride in putting the citizen's well-being and development first, we would very much like to hear from you.

The position is advertised at 32 hours but can be adjusted to your desired hour requirement. We would like your desired number of hours to appear in the application.

About Svendborg Municipality

Svendborg Municipality, in our view, is a workplace of a perfect size: small enough to be close to each other in a warm informal community with short lines of command and without hidden agendas. And large enough to have room for ambitions, high professionalism and rich opportunities for development.

We value everyday life and insist that it should be nice to go to work. We are busy, but not too busy to help each other.

Our values are not only on paper; we actually use them as a compass every day. We meet each other eye to eye, in dialogue and with trust, and together we create a safe framework where we all can solve our tasks independently, flexibly and responsibly.

Welcome to Svendborg - the capital of the archipelago!

Svendborg has a superb location in the middle of the most beautiful nature, at the edge of the South Funen Archipelago and with a mini-metropolis that offers it all. We do not hesitate to proudly call Svendborg the cultural capital of Funen. We have a charming city centre and a lively commercial town with theatres and museums and a rich association life.

Our day care and public schools are top-tier with a special focus on movement and sport, and we have several higher educations soon to be gathered in an attractive educational environment by the harbour. Svendborg is located in the middle of the country with half an hour to Odense and under two hours to Copenhagen and Aarhus. Svendborg, with about 59,000 inhabitants, is Funen's second largest municipality.

Svendborg Municipality has smoke-free working hours. We want smoke-free working hours to contribute to a healthy working environment for all employees.
