Introductory position in acute medicine in the Emergency Department, North Zealand Hospital

We are seeking three committed resident physicians who are passionate about becoming emergency medicine specialists.

We prioritize applicants who take responsibility for their own learning and wish to engage in the department's development, including emergency medicine research.

We have in total 20 introductory positions in Emergency Medicine and 16 Junior Doctor positions (KBU) and 10 HU doctors in emergency medicine.

The Emergency Department at North Zealand Hospital is the FAM in the Capital Region that is most advanced with the emergency medicine concept; all patients enter through the same door here, including trauma patients.

The introductory doctor must complete the 12-month program in the Emergency Department, focusing on the treatment of acute conditions including reception and stabilization of the critically ill patient, as well as treatment of the injured patient. During employment there is an opportunity for a focused stay in the Neurological Department. Thus, as an Introductory Doctor with us you will get a broad introduction to the acute medical competencies and a solid basis to continue in a main training in emergency medicine.

FAM

The Emergency Department and the specialty-specific reception wards together constitute FAM at North Zealand Hospital. FAM in Hillerød is staffed around the clock for all acute specialties, except for Gynaecology/Obstetrics and Pediatrics, which have their own receptions. We receive 150-170 patients per day and about 100 trauma patients in addition. FAM handles around 137,000 patient pathways annually, of which 44,000 are admissions and 93,000 are emergency outpatient pathways.

FAM consists of an independent Emergency Department with its own doctors in leadership and a specialty-specific reception/observation ward operated by the specialties. The specialty-specific reception/observation ward and the Emergency Department are side by side, and there is close collaboration between the Emergency Department doctors and the other specialties.

The Emergency Department is led by Chief Physician Jesper Juul Larsen, specializing in emergency medicine and internal medicine: Nephrology, and Chief Nurse Rikke Ølholm Pedersen.

Salary and employment

Employment is offered in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. The introductory positions are aimed at doctors who have not previously completed an introductory training in Emergency Medicine.

Authorized health personnel without a Danish diploma who have patient contact must, upon employment in the Capital Region, have passed a Danish language test (Danish education 3, corresponding to the 9th grade exam) or at minimum be able to pass the test no later than 1 year after employment, or have obtained equivalent language skills in Danish by other means.
