Junior doctors in Surgery and Intensive Care, Viborg Regional Hospital

Come and join the team! Two positions as introductory physician in anaesthesiology, job numbers 6630-01-84-i07 and 6630-01-84-i03, at Hospitalsenhed Midt, Operation and Intensive Care, Viborg Regional Hospital, are available to fill as of March 1, 2027, or by agreement.

About the positions

Operation and Intensive Care, Viborg Regional Hospital is a large well-functioning department with 18 consultants, 7 specialists, and a large group of training physicians (4th-year HU doctors as well as intro/postintro doctors).

Education has high priority and some of what we offer is;

• Well-structured introduction with 6 weeks of daytime training which is described in detail in your individually planned intro program
• Assigned main supervisor and planned first supervisor meeting before the start of employment
• Assigned a "buddy" in the form of an introductory physician colleague, who is responsible for collegial support and sparring in the startup phase
• On-call duties after 6 weeks with continued strong focus on supervised training and support from the rest of the on-call team
• A wide range of anaesthesia methods: training in both IV and inhalation anaesthesia, regional blocks and central blocks
• A wide range of anaesthesia procedures including placement of peripheral and central venous access with ultrasound
• Specific focus on regional nerve blocks with formal instruction via e-learning (USabcd license), block-day with an experienced consultant, and ongoing supervision of procedures
• Involvement in all acute calls (cardiac arrest, acute medical call, trauma call, emergency cesarean section and acute pediatric)
• Training days on the emergency medical vehicle (or others according to interest)
• 4 weeks of focused stay in intensive care with supervised ward walks during daytime
• Opportunity for sparring with the head of research regarding possible projects and articles
• Prioritization of individual career counseling

About the department

We are a busy department - often we need to have several balls in the air and maneuver around in many diverse/interdisciplinary contexts – whether it is in the operating theatre, the delivery ward, or the emergency department.

We help each other - in daily work and during on-call hours, where you as a pre-call are supported by a back-up on-call (HU doctor or specialist) and the on-call consultant.

We have a good atmosphere - with a high degree of collegiality, where education and cross-departmental collaboration across on-call shifts and seniority are valued. We have a daily joint coffee break in the morning and often host social events.

We offer teaching - the junior doctor group holds monthly after-work meetings (with pay), where relevant topics are taught and in addition, junior doctors participate in simulation training in the department (neonatal resuscitation, acute situations in the operating theatre and acute medical calls in the emergency department).

Note regarding transport: There are several good commuter schemes from Aarhus and, in addition, the train goes right to the door. If needed, a on-call room can be borrowed and the hospital has physician housing in close proximity.

About salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement in the area. With reference to the Law on the Retrieval of Child-Care Certificates in connection with the hiring of staff, a child-care certificate will be retrieved in connection with possible employment. The appointment is made by Region Midtjylland with service currently at Hospitalsenhed Midt, Operation and Intensive Care.
