About the job

Do you want to become clinically sharp - whether you want to try neurology first or aim for Intro/HU?

With us you get close supervision, clear frameworks and a plan that develops you quickly and safely.

As we expect vacant I-track positions in the coming months, there will be a good opportunity to move to the introductory position if neurology and the department prove to be the right fit for you.

What you get with us

  • Specialist at the forefront: Clinic-near supervision and ongoing bedside feedback.
  • Targeted learning – two tracks (you can switch along the way):
  • Exploratory track: Confident acute neurology, good notes, secure handovers, basic CT head triage and LP with supervision according to experience - aimed at rapid progression to independence.
  • Intro/HU track: Personal plan with concrete goals and a fixed supervisor - aimed at competencies typically requested in Intro/HU.
  • Broad neurological experience: Reception, beds and outpatient clinics across subspecialties (e.g., memory, MS, epilepsy, Parkinson's, stroke follow-up, brain tumor, mixed neurology). Requests for specific subspecialties are accommodated to the extent the service allows.
  • Quality work/research (driven by interest): Small, defined improvement tasks or literature work by agreement - can be included in working hours when the service allows (no separate funding).
  • Courses: Arranged when it benefits the department and your learning path.

Why Herlev & Gentofte – neurological perspective

  • Educational focus: Daily, short, case-based teaching and clinic-near bedside supervision in acute cases.
  • MRI at the front in reception (when indicated) and a modern acute setup with imaging close to patient flow - fast stroke clarification and smooth decisions in acute neurology.
  • Close collaboration with the immunotherapy environment (CCIT/oncology) on rare neurological side effects of immunotherapy (e.g., encephalitis, neuropathies, myositis).
  • Outpatient breadth across subspecialties - a strong platform, whether you want to try the specialty or aim for Intro/HU.

Your tasks

Acute work in the reception, rounds and outpatient pathways, practical procedures (e.g., LP) and interdisciplinary collaboration. The neurology on-call is always staffed with two doctors. On-call workload about 3–4 shifts per month. Back-up on site until 21:00 and then on call. The first independent shift comes after the introduction and shadowing shift - time is set after individual assessment.

Introduction and support

  • First weeks: Planned introduction to clinical workflows and local “how-to” for acute pathways.
  • Easy access to sparring: A fixed contact person during the day in the first weeks (we are working on a formal buddy system).
  • SP (The Health Platform): Training in SP including practical use in the department and relevant smart phrases etc.
  • LP and other procedures: Supervision and independence depending on your experience and agreement with your supervisor.

Who are you?

  • KBU-qualified and motivated for neurology - whether you want to try the specialty or target Intro/HU position.
  • Works in a structured way and escalates early when in doubt.
  • Communicates clearly and contributes to calm in the reception - also when there is pressure.
  • Sees yourself as part of the team - also socially; you contribute to a collegial environment in which you thrive.
  • Sees feedback as part of the work and wants to develop yourself in a team.
