Kitchen assistant sought for maternity leave position at Børnehuset Farvervænget

Then perhaps you are the one we are seeking for a maternity leave substitute as a kitchen assistant at 17.5 hours per week with start on 1 January 2027.

We are looking for an engaged and responsible kitchen assistant who has the relevant professional qualifications and a desire to prepare nourishing and varied meals for the children in our kindergarten.

About the position

As a kitchen assistant you will be an important part of daily life in our kindergarten. You will be responsible for the daily kitchen tasks and for preparing meals that take into account the children's age, needs and curiosity about different ingredients and flavors.

The position is 18 hours per week, and your working hours will be attached to the kitchen.

Your tasks will include, among others, the following

• Plan and prepare healthy, varied and tasty meals tailored to the children's age and needs.
• Develop meal plans and be responsible for purchasing and ordering ingredients.
• Work with seasonal ingredients and focus on organic, sustainability and minimising food waste.
• Ensure that current rules for food hygiene, self-monitoring and food safety are followed.
• Carry out the daily cleaning, dishwashing and other practical tasks in the kitchen.
• Use ingredients responsibly and keep an eye on the finances within the agreed budget.
• Contribute to good meals where children have the opportunity to experience different flavors, textures and ingredients.

We view the meal as more than just food. It is also an important part of the children's daily life, where they can explore new tastes and experience the joy of varied and tasty food.

We are looking for someone who …

• Has a relevant professional education, for example as a nutrition assistant, or equivalent qualifications to carry out the tasks in the kitchen.
• Has knowledge of food hygiene and food safety.
• Can work independently, take responsibility and create structure in daily kitchen tasks.
• Is eager to cook from scratch and compose varied meals based on the children's needs.
• Has an economical and sustainable approach to purchasing, ingredients and food waste.
• Is flexible, reliable and good at collaborating with different professional groups.
• Meets children, parents and colleagues with openness, good humor and respect.

Experience from an institutional kitchen would be an advantage, but the most important thing is that you have the necessary professional qualifications and a desire to contribute to a well-functioning kitchen daily.
