About the job

Do you want to lead and further develop a well-run supervisory service in the elder care sector with a focus on learning and dialogue? Then this position is for you!

In Ældretilsyn Nord, after just over a year of operation, we have decided to give the supervisory service even more attention and closer leadership by dedicating a full leadership position to the task. We are therefore looking for a professionally strong, clear, and inclusive leader who can ensure coherence, (common) direction, quality, and further development of the elder supervision.

About the position

Ældretilsyn Nord conducts supervision and provides advisory and sparring to all care units in a large part of Jutland. The supervision is newly started in July 2025 with a basis in the elder reform and has got off to a good start. We have gained our first instructive experiences with leading a learning- and dialogue-oriented supervision based on the Elder Supervisory Act and are becoming a well-run organization.

We have developed several tools and procedures over the past year and are still in the process of developing, among other things, a risk model for the care units along with our advisory and sparring packages to the units. This is done in close cooperation with the two other elder supervise offices, the Health Authority, and the Ministry of Children, Elderly and Housing.

Currently we are also preparing a partial evaluation of the elder supervision in collaboration with KL and the ministry. The evaluation may certainly yield some development tasks that we are ready to tackle together with the new leader.

As the leader of Ældretilsyn Nord you will be responsible for performing the supervision tasks in the elder sector. You will be the direct supervisor for eight professionally capable and engaged supervisory consultants, of whom one serves as a professional coordinator. The employees perform their supervisory tasks primarily from their home offices, as they are based in and supervise a large part of Jutland. There is a fixed on-site day for the employees at least one day per week at the workplace in Vrå. Therefore you must be ready to be a visible and present leader despite physical distance.

Your task is to translate the organization’s goals and priorities into a meaningful direction for the department and ensure high quality in the supervisory work and create the right framework for the employees’ task execution and development. We also work with a risk-based approach in the supervision. This means a particular focus on ensuring that resources are used where there is the greatest need.

You must also adhere to Ældretilsyn Nord’s values of credibility, professionalism, and dialogue by exercising leadership and authority with integrity, high professional quality, and respectful communication as well as by creating trusting relationships and constructive collaborations.

We expect

We expect that you have the following competencies

  • you have experience from the elder sector and have familiarised yourself with the elder reform and the Act on Elder Supervisory Service
  • you have experience as a leader, preferably of professionally strong and independent employees
  • you have a leadership education, or a possible desire to complete one
  • you have experience with or in-depth knowledge of authority- or supervisory tasks
  • you are a strong communicator - both orally and in writing
  • you have a strategic view of task solving and development in an organization like ours

As a leader we hope that

  • you have an inclusive, trust-based, and appreciative leadership style with a focus on psychological safety in task execution
  • you can set a clear direction and gain followership
  • you maintain focus on and follow through on initiated tasks and projects well to completion
  • you are a clear and present leader with a sharp focus on the core task
  • you can stand firm when it blows around you – e.g. in potentially conflictful dialogues with care units
  • you are comfortable in the authority role

We offer

A meaningful leadership position with great significance for the implementation of the elder reform in Denmark.

You will become part of a well-functioning, ambitious and experienced leadership team, characterized by cross-functional task solving, good structure, trust, support, and good humor. We hold weekly leadership meetings and have a high degree of coordination across. You will participate in continuous one-on-one conversations with the supervisor and leadership supervision about ~4 times a year.

As the leader of the elder supervision you have many external collaboration relationships, e.g., the other elder supervision leaders in Denmark, partners at the Health Authority, KL and the Ministry of Children, Elderly and Housing. Travel activity is therefore to be expected. Besides, you will naturally have contact with many managers, leaders and quality staff at the care units that we supervise.

You report to the supervisory chief, who is the head of both Ældretilsyn Nord and Socialtilsyn Nord. The two supervise offices share premises in Vrå and focus on strong teamwork both internally and across the two offices. We also share staff between the two supervise offices. We expect you to be visible in the building in Vrå several days a week.

Ældretilsyn Nord is organizationally anchored in the Municipality of Hjørring, and we are therefore covered by Hjørring Municipality’s personnel policies and benefit from the employee advantages of working for Hjørring Municipality.

A thorough onboarding process will be planned for you as a leader, and you will, among other things, have the former head of Ældretilsyn Nord as a close colleague. In addition, Hjørring Municipality offers a leadership mentor program for new leaders, where you get an experienced leader as a mentor from another administrative area in the municipality.

About Ældretilsyn Nord

Ældretilsyn Nord is one of Denmark’s three elder supervise offices and is organizationally placed in Hjørring Municipality. The supervision started on 1 July 2025, so we are still a relatively new organization that continues to work with development and implementation of various tools, etc., to support our workflows.

We supervise and provide advisory and sparring to around 580 care units that provide holistic care under the Elder Act, i.e., nursing homes and providers of holistic care, both private and municipal, in Northern Jutland and a large part of Central Jutland.

The supervision is learning- and dialog-based and performed according to a fixed concept described in a handbook prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Elder Affairs: Handbook on elder supervision and co-supervision in elder care for elder supervision consultants. There is a strong emphasis on ensuring that the supervision is carried out uniformly across the country’s elder supervise offices, hence there is naturally close cooperation with the other two supervise offices on workflows and guidelines, etc.
