About the job

Would you like to help ensure that parents feel seen, heard and understood, while strengthening the rule of law in Denmark's largest public administration?

In the City of Copenhagen's Department for Children and Young People, the Central Complaint Unit has an important task: We must ensure a trusting meeting between the administration and the parents who contact us with a complaint.

We use complaints actively to strengthen quality, rule of law, and to derive organizational learning. Therefore we are looking for a colleague who is motivated both by solving complex complaints and by translating the experiences into improvements across the administration.

About the Central Complaint Unit

The Central Complaint Unit is part of the Department for Children and Youths’ central legal team. We coordinate and process complaints in the school and day care areas and advise managers and employees on good administrative practice, the rule of law, and legal issues.

For us, complaints are more than individual cases. They provide important insights into how children, parents and partners experience contact with the municipality – and they point to where we succeed and where we can improve.

We work in a systematic and data-informed way with complaint cases to identify patterns, trends and recurring issues. We use these insights to strengthen case handling, develop workflows and support management.

About the job

You will be part of a small, professionally strong team with high quality, close sparring and knowledge sharing. Here you will play a central role in the development of the complaints area, but will also contribute to handling other tasks in the team. Your primary tasks will include, among others:

  • coordinate and handle complex complaints and prepare complaint responses
  • advise managers and staff on administrative law, good administrative practice and the rule of law
  • engage in dialogue with parents in cases where interests and expectations may differ
  • register and analyze complaints and identify patterns and trends
  • contribute to organizational learning and development of workflows

You will have a daily work life where classic complaint handling goes hand in hand with analysis, advisory work and development.

Your profile

You are most likely a cand.jur. or hold another relevant legal education. If you have experience with public administration, that is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important is that you want to work with rules and the rule of law, and that you can understand perspectives from other professional areas and find good solutions.

We especially emphasize that you

  • thrive with both complex cases and dialogue with different partners and professional disciplines
  • are professionally curious and motivated by understanding why complaints arise
  • can see patterns across individual cases and translate them into improvement opportunities
  • work in a structured manner and follow tasks through to completion

Why you should choose us

With us you will be part of a unit with high professional ambitions and a strong belief that professional curiosity creates better solutions.

You will have the opportunity to both solve complex individual cases and use the experiences to develop quality and the rule of law in one of Denmark’s largest public organizations.

At the same time you will be part of a strong professional community characterized by helpfulness, high quality and an informal tone.

Conditions of employment

The position is full-time and intended to be filled as soon as possible.

Salary and terms of employment are according to the applicable collective agreement and after negotiations with the negotiating organization.

We are based at Hans Nansens Gård in Gyldenløvesgade – a few minutes’ walk from City Hall Square. Here we have, among other things, a canteen, massage program, staff association and the possibility of home working.

We encourage all qualified applicants – regardless of age, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation or ethnic background – to apply for the position.
