About the job

Would you like to help ensure that parents feel seen, heard and understood while strengthening the legal safeguards in Denmark's largest administration?

In the City of Copenhagen's Department for Children and Youth, the Central Complaints Unit has an important task: We must ensure a trusting encounter between the administration and the parents who contact us with a complaint.

We actively use complaints to strengthen quality, legal safeguards, and to derive organizational learning. Therefore we are looking for a colleague who is motivated both by resolving complex complaint cases and by translating the experiences into improvements across the administration.

About the Central Complaints Unit

The Central Complaints Unit is part of the Department for Children and Youth's central legal team. We coordinate and process complaints in the school and day-care sector and advise managers and staff on good administrative practices, legal safeguards, and legal issues.

For us, complaints are more than individual cases. They provide important knowledge about how children, parents and partners experience contact with the municipality – and indicate where we succeed and where we can improve.

We work systematically and data-informed with complaint cases to identify patterns, trends and recurring issues. We use the insights to strengthen case handling, develop workflows and support management.

About the job

You will become part of a small, professionally strong team with high quality, close sparring and knowledge sharing. Here you will play a central role in the development of the complaints area, but will also contribute to handling other tasks in the team. Your main tasks will include among others to

  • coordinate and handle complex complaint cases and prepare complaint responses
  • advise managers and staff on administrative law, good administrative practice and legal safeguards
  • have dialogue with parents in cases where interests and expectations may differ
  • record and analyze complaint cases and identify patterns and trends
  • contribute to organizational learning and development of workflows

You will have a daily work where traditional complaints processing goes hand in hand with analysis, advisory work and development.

Your profile

You are probably a cand.jur. or have another relevant legal education. If you have experience with public administration, that is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important thing is that you want to work with rules and legal safeguards, and that you can understand other professional perspectives and find good solutions.

We place particular emphasis on that you

  • thrive with both complex cases and dialogue with different partners and professional fields
  • are professionally curious and motivated by understanding why complaints arise
  • can see patterns across individual cases and translate them into improvement opportunities
  • work structurally and follow through on tasks securely

Why choose us

With us you become part of a unit with high professional ambitions and a strong belief that professional curiosity creates better solutions.

You will have the opportunity to both solve complex individual cases and use the experiences to develop quality and legal safeguards in one of Denmark's largest public organizations.

At the same time you will become part of a strong professional community characterized by helpfulness, high quality and an informal tone.

Terms of employment

The position is full-time and to be filled as soon as possible.

Salary and employment terms are according to the applicable collective agreement and after negotiations with the union that has bargaining rights.

We are located in Hans Nansens Gård in Gyldenløvesgade – a few minutes’ walk from City Hall Square. Here we have, among other things, a canteen, massage scheme, staff association and the possibility for home working.

We encourage all qualified applicants – regardless of age, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation or ethnic background – to apply for the position.
