About the job

Do you have a flair for IT, and are you up for challenges – and eager to tinker with Python, servers and AI?

Then take a deep breath, fasten your helmet and read on – this might be your new everyday life!

About us

Geospatial Center (GEOCEN) is the Army's competence center for geodata, geographic information systems (GIS) and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT). We are located at Skive Barracks and support operational units – including the special operations environment – with geographic analyses, digital maps and decision support for planning and execution of military operations.

We work at the crossroads of geography, technology and military operations. GEOCEN is a specialized and technology-oriented professional environment where IT plays a key role. Our technical solutions range from ordinary IT operations and user support to servers, networks, databases and advanced GIS platforms. We also continuously develop and optimize our systems through automation, system integration and the use of new technologies, including artificial intelligence.

With us you become part of an engaged professional environment where IT staff, GIS specialists and military colleagues collaborate to solve both daily and complex technical tasks. We place emphasis on independence, professional sparring, short decision paths and a practical approach to problem solving.

We offer a varied workplace with opportunities for professional development, responsibility and influence on the technical solutions that support our operational tasks.

About the position

You will become part of a cross-disciplinary team that is responsible for ensuring a stable, secure and well-functioning IT infrastructure. The team supports the organization's employees and technical solutions and continuously works to optimize operations, automate workflows and support the development of new technologies.

IT operations and infrastructure

You will take a central role in the daily operation and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes, among other things, administration of the VMware environment, servers and network infrastructure as well as troubleshooting and handling technical challenges. You will also contribute to ensuring stable backup solutions and ongoing monitoring of the systems, so that any faults or operational disturbances are detected and handled quickly.

User support and user administration

You help the organization's employees with technical challenges and ensure that their IT equipment, systems and access work as expected. This could include troubleshooting software and hardware, resolving access problems or providing guidance in the use of IT systems. You also handle user administration, including creation and decommissioning of user accounts, assignment of user rights and management of access, so that employees have the necessary rights to solve their tasks.

Automation and optimization

You help identify workflows that can be automated or made more efficient. Based on the organization's needs, you develop and implement solutions that reduce manual tasks, minimize the risk of errors and make operations more efficient. This could include automation of user provisioning, system maintenance or repetitive administrative tasks.

AI/ML support

You contribute to ensuring the technical framework for the organization's work with GIS (geographic information systems) and AI/ML (artificial intelligence and machine learning). This includes technical support for GIS specialists and development teams as well as help in establishing, integrating and operating the systems and tools their work depends on. You thereby help ensure that the necessary IT resources and infrastructure solutions function stably and can support the development and application of new AI-based tools.

About you

We are looking for a trained IT support technician, data technician or an employee with corresponding IT professional competencies. You may be relatively new to the field or have several years of experience. The most important thing is that you have a solid technical understanding, take responsibility for your tasks and are keen to develop with us.

You thrive in a diverse daily life where tasks range from everyday user support and troubleshooting to more complex technical challenges. You work in a structured and independent manner but also value collaboration and professional sparring with colleagues from different professional areas.

We emphasize that you do not only solve the tasks you are given but also are curious, take initiative and contribute ideas on how we can improve our systems and workflows.

Perhaps you have particular competences or interests in virtualization, server operation, networks, scripting, automation, cybersecurity or AI-supported solutions. You do not have to master everything. We are interested in your specific competences and how they can be utilized with us.

As a person you are service-minded, solution-oriented and good at communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues. You understand the importance of stable and secure IT operations and are motivated by working in an environment where your solutions make a real difference.

Terms of employment

The employment is governed by the applicable Joint Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organization – The Public Sector (OAO-S Joint Agreement) and the Organization Agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees (HK) in the state.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility for negotiation of supplements. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Skive.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's area you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout your employment.
