About the job

We are seeking one permanent position and one maternity leave cover for the Hårslev department in our lower primary/middle school.

At Nordfynsskolen we believe in the potential of every child

Are you passionate about developing both the children and the school – and are you really eager to become part of our dynamic organization? Then read more here.

The two vacant positions are attached to our department in Hårslev, where the target group are children with multiple impairments and/or children with autism spectrum disorders and/or anxiety. Several pupils have a history of school absence and many difficult experiences behind them.

We are looking for teachers who have knowledge of and interest in the above profiles, and who are excited to think about learning in alternative ways with a high degree of activity and differentiation.

The children need the right gaze, a close adult relationship and an inclusive learning community to unfold their resources. We are focused on creating participation paths for all our children.

Nordfynsskolen is a special school consisting of four special offerings distributed around the municipality. At Nordfynsskolen we emphasize that learning, personal development and social skills go hand in hand, and we therefore work cross-professionally in teams where all disciplines are equally valued.

At Nordfynsskolen we believe that through a holistic approach we can nurture and develop children's potentials. The pedagogical and didactic foundation rests on four politically adopted pillars: mentalization, low arousal, positive psychology and neuroaffective developmental psychology. We also work from a skills-based thinking, where the adults bear the responsibility that the demands placed on our pupils match their prerequisites to succeed.

Our pedagogical thinking and learning environment are guided by values such as integrity, trustworthiness, visibility, openness and curiosity. We believe that all children do the best they can - academically and socially.

The daily life in all departments is framed with a high degree of visual structure, predictability, variation in teaching and individually tailored schedules. We work purposefully to achieve a sense of success and mastery for all children, and we work with well-being as a prerequisite for learning.

We value good parental collaboration highly, as we see all parents as an important resource in the children's lives and development.

We are looking for a colleague

We are looking for a colleague who wants to work with lovely children who need special adults to develop and thrive. You will be part of a class team, and with us you must be flexible and able to contribute to teaching with an understanding of both the primary school curriculum and broader learning activities.

We expect that you

  • are a trained teacher and have experience within the special education field or with the target group within the general framework
  • are helpful, positive, clear and appreciative in interaction with pupils, parents, colleagues and other professionals
  • can support the learning environment, have competence to develop pupils' skills and think about children's learning and development in many ways
  • work in a structured and systematic way and can set clear boundaries and create predictability for the pupil group
  • can plan, implement and evaluate differentiated pedagogical activities within the child's zone of proximal development
  • can work from systemic basic ideas – see connections and take different perspectives as well as have understanding of your own influence on the children
  • can reflect on your own practice and based on this develop new pedagogical initiatives
  • can remain calm and keep an overview in pressured situations, as we have pupils who can react both verbally and physically to unpredictability, high demands, adults' insecurity and lack of coherence
  • possess empathy and can establish good relations with both children and parents
  • are reflective and can give and receive constructive feedback
  • are good at communicating both orally and in writing

We offer

  • a wonderful group of pupils who want to be seen, supported and experience appropriate demands/expectations that develop them
  • staff who help each other and together lift the task of bringing the pupils into well-being, learning and development, including through an involving parental and cross-professional collaboration
  • an exciting, development-oriented and dynamic workplace with a skilled and engaged staff
  • a workplace that values good well-being among staff, parents and pupils
  • a workplace where good humor and laughter are part of daily life
