About the job

Would you like to work with statistics that illuminate central parts of the Danish economy and provide insights into the public sector? Statistics Denmark is looking for a new colleague for the Office of Public Finances. Here we work with statistics on the public sector, the financial sector and other macroeconomic areas such as wealth and debt. You will become part of a professionally strong and inclusive environment where we develop and produce high-quality statistics for use in analyses and economic decision-making.

You do not need to know the area in advance. Together with experienced colleagues you will receive a thorough introduction to the work and the opportunity to build a solid understanding of the public economy.

Your tasks

You will work with statistics on the public sector, including the development in public revenues, expenditures and deficits/surplus. Your primary focus will be the quarterly aggregates, which contribute to the ongoing description of the Danish economy.

You will receive a thorough introduction to the methods and processes behind the production of official statistics. The tasks include analysis and processing of accounting material as well as translating data into the concepts of the national accounts. You will contribute to the development of the IT systems that support production, and collaborate with colleagues in other offices at Statistics Denmark as well as external parties such as the Ministry of Finance and Eurostat.

The position gives you the opportunity to develop professional competencies within, and to gain solid knowledge of the public economy and the national accounts.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with an academic degree, e.g. a master’s in economics (cand.polit., cand.oecon., cand.merc. or similar). You may be a recent graduate or have a few years of experience. The most important thing is that you want to work with economic statistics and contribute to a professionally strong collaboration. We imagine that you:

  • Have an interest in statistics and socio-economic issues.
  • Thrive with analytical tasks and enjoy working with data.
  • Work in a structured way and take responsibility for your tasks.
  • Contribute positively to collaboration with colleagues and partners.
  • Communicate professional issues clearly in Danish and English.

Since the work is data-based, it is an advantage if you have experience with programming or data analysis tools such as Python, R or SAS, but it is not a requirement.

We offer

  • A position where you have the opportunity to learn about public finances and develop competencies within economic statistics and national accounts.
  • A professionally strong and inclusive work environment with a focus on quality, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Societally relevant tasks that contribute to the understanding of the Danish economy.
  • Good opportunities for professional development and influence on your own tasks.

A broad collaboration with colleagues across the organization and external parties such as the Ministry of Finance and Eurostat.

Salary and employment

Salary and terms of employment are determined by qualifications in accordance with the relevant collective agreement. There may be room to negotiate a qualification allowance for the position.

The appointment will as a rule be as a civil servant at full time under the applicable collective agreement for academics negotiated between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations.

The appointment will be full-time and with the starting date of 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
