Educator for the kindergarten at Den Grønne Kastanje

Then we have a vacant position in the kindergarten Den Grønne Kastanje.

Den Grønne Kastanje is a smaller integrated institution, located in the heart of Copenhagen surrounded by the Botanical Garden, the lakes and Østre Anlæg. We have room for 36 infants in three rooms and 44 preschool children in two rooms. We live in new, bright buildings from 2013 with a corresponding large playground, where there is a campfire area, a greenhouse, raised beds, a bike track and much more. We love our physical surroundings, but we are also always ready to go on adventures, e.g. on electric-assisted cargo bikes, by bus/metro/train or with the minibus we currently have.

At Den Grønne Kastanje we place high value on presence, good relationships and community. One of the gathering points for children and adults is the good, organic meal – preferably prepared from produce from our own greenhouse and together with the children.

Pedagogically, we have a broad focus on creating learning spaces and development opportunities for the children, so we work continuously and purposefully with the six themes of the curricula both in adult-led activities, in everyday routines and in the children's self-initiated play. As a pedagogue at Den Grønne Kastanje you have almost full freedom to plan activities, trips and play in collaboration with your colleagues.

We value spontaneity and the possibility of following the children's tracks over fixed weekly plans, but we have committed to offering the children meaningful activities every day. You determine the content together with your colleagues and the children.

You will become part of a house with a long and traditionally rich history. The institution has existed for over 40 years, and several staff – and families – have been part of the community for more than 8-10 years. This means, among other things, that your new everyday life will be characterized by stability and experienced colleagues who are ready to spar with you. At the same time, development, reflection and willingness to change are part of the institution's DNA. Do you have a good idea?

• like us, value the parental partnership – we have a solid collaboration with the parents, which among other things is due to prioritizing home visits before the start of infants and preschool children who come from the waiting list and two annual conversations in connection with TOPI
• like us, are flexible regarding your schedule, so you can step in occasionally, not too often, if colleagues on another room need help – conversely there is a strong willingness to help you and your room if you need it
• like us, feel comfortable when you have freedom with responsibility – you and the room coordinate, for example, days off yourself, plan pedagogical activities etc., but you of course ensure that the room functions together and that there is pedagogical reflection behind the activities
• like us, enjoy outdoor life – although we are a city institution, we are very fond of being outside; whether on our own playground, in the local area or on longer trips, and our cluster IBØ C (Indre By/Østerbro Klynge C/Kongeriget ved Søerne) has a science-oriented profile and places emphasis on outdoor life, science and sustainability, and we have a minibus that can transport seven children
• can plan, implement, evaluate and document pedagogical activities
• can and want to contribute to developing Den Grønne Kastanje's pedagogical professionalism
• can reflect on both own and joint practices

We have time for planning and other preparation.

Den Grønne Kastanje has extended opening hours. Working hours therefore fall in the period 6:00-17:00. In addition, an average of one evening meeting per month should be expected in the period 17:00-20:00.

Terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment according to the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

The position is 37 hours per week, but can be reduced.

Employment from 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. We are happy to wait for the right fit for our team.
