About the job

"Hi, pedagogue or SOSU assistant – it's us who live here."

We are looking for you, who are not just an employee who can solve tasks, but a person who wants to learn to understand us and use your professional skills to give us the greatest possible influence on our own lives.

We live at Botilbuddet Provstevej, because we need support and help in our everyday life. We are adults with multiple disabilities, and we have different ways of experiencing the world and showing what we want and need.

Some of us use words. Others tell through sounds, facial expressions, movements, gaze or changes in the body. That does not mean that we have nothing to tell. It means that you need to take time to learn our language.

We are seeking pedagogues and SOSU assistants who are curious about who we are, what is important to us, and how we can gain the greatest possible influence on our own lives.

We need you to see more than our need for help

We need support, among other things, for personal care, meals, communication, activities, health and social interaction with others. But we do not only need tasks to be done. We need you to see our wishes, possibilities and resources – also when they are expressed in ways other than through words.

When we react differently than usual, it may be our way of telling that we have pain, feel insecure, tired, happy or need something else. Therefore you must be curious about what lies behind our reactions, and help us make our wishes, needs and boundaries clear.

We want, among other things, support to

  • make choices and gain influence on our own lives
  • be met with openness, trust and respect
  • use and develop our possibilities for communication
  • participate in activities and communities that make sense for us
  • maintain relationships with family and other people
  • experience safety, recognizability and good moments
  • receive the necessary support for our health and personal care

A good day is not the same for all of us. For some it may include music, movement or a trip out of the house. For others it may be about calm, presence or a familiar activity together with a staff member we feel secure with. Your task will be, together with us, to find out what creates a good and meaningful everyday life for the individual.

We can help develop your professional skills

Working with us requires pedagogical and health professional competences, and it also gives you the opportunity to develop them. We will teach you that communication is more than words. You will become sharper at noticing small changes in gaze, facial expressions, sound and body language. We challenge you to be patient and curious and to reflect on how your own approach affects the relationship.

Together with us you can develop your professional skills within communication, relationship work, self- and co-determination, neuro-pedagogy, sensory integration and observation of changes in our well-being and health.

You will experience that small professional actions can have great significance. It can be, for example, when you find a way for us to express a choice, help us through an anxious situation or create an activity where we can participate on our own terms.

You will not be left alone in getting to know us

We do not expect you to understand us from your first day at work. You will receive a structured onboarding process during the first 14 days and will be assigned a primary and a secondary mentor.

At the outset you will be assigned to one floor, so you have the opportunity to get to know us, your colleagues and routines thoroughly. Over time you will be introduced to the rest of the house. It creates security and quality for us when several staff know us and know how to support us.

You will become part of a professional community where the staff share their observations and follow up on whether the support still fits our wishes, needs and overall life situation. We work, among other things, with SundNeuro, which is a cross between health care practices and neuro-pedagogy, sensory integration and cohesive communication and social interaction. You also get access to supervision and competence development.

Our relatives are and will be important partners. They know our life history, relationships, habits and ways of communicating. We need their knowledge, your professional observations and our own expressions to be used together to find the right support.

We are looking for you who

  • are educated as a pedagogue or SOSU assistant
  • can be experienced or newly educated – the most important for us is that you want to get to know us and use your professional skills to support us in living the life that makes sense
  • are curious about our different ways of communicating
  • have patience to get to know us thoroughly
  • have an eye for our wishes, possibilities and resources
  • are attentive to changes in our well-being and behavior
  • can reflect on your own significance in the relationship
  • share your knowledge and are open to what others see
  • would like to develop your professional skills together with us and your future colleagues
  • have medication competence or will be trained in it

Employment terms

Employment takes place under the applicable collective agreement for pedagogical staff or under the collective agreement for social and health personnel

The positions are 37 hours per week with rotating day and evening shifts as well as work every other weekend. You are employed at Provstevej with affiliation to one department and will with time become part of the collaboration across the house.

Start date is as soon as possible. As part of the recruitment process we will obtain references and a criminal record check.
