About the job

AutismeCenter Skive, dept. for the Bilstrupvej 27 residential facility seeks pedagogical assistants for permanent positions.

Due to organizational changes in several of our houses, we are seeking three pedagogical assistants for permanent positions at AutismeCenter Skive.

About the workplace

AutismeCenter Skive is Skive Municipality's center for interventions for adults with autism, and includes, among other things, living assistance, residential care and employment and activity offerings for people with autism.

The position is based at Bilstrupvej 27 A-E, which is a 24/7 residential facility under SEL §85/ABL §105 and §108. The facility consists of five houses, with space for a total of 39 residents.

The target group is people with autism spectrum disorders, and there can be physical and/or psychological comorbid disorders, as well as a lower development level than biological age to varying degrees.

The staff group is multidisciplinary and includes, among others, social educators, social- and health-care assistants, occupational therapists, pedagogical assistants and a music therapist.

The workplace is characterized by an informal tone, where we get along well together.

The Bilstrupvej facility is relatively new and is a merger of several offers, and we are well underway with building common cultures and workflows to create a strong shared VI (us).

We began restructuring on 1 October, expanding from four to five houses and adding four beds. We are in the process of admitting new residents, and you will become part of that process.

Extensive competency development has been initiated, and we are therefore implementing several professional tools and methods, in which you will be an active participant.

The advertised position is distributed across all the houses. You can expect to be primarily attached to one house with a combined arrangement to another house. Staff in House A also cover House E as their primary assignment.

About the expectations

The core task for the social department in Skive Municipality is

“In interaction with the citizen, we create opportunities for development, well-being and mastery of one's own life”

'You are therefore expected, together with your colleagues, to collaborate with residents, relatives, social workers and other relevant parties to create a life of well-being and with a focus on mastery and development for the individual resident. We focus on the residents' hopes and dreams, and we want to work recovery-oriented to ensure that support and interventions are arranged meaningfully with a focus on well-being and development with the resident's voice at the center.

As department heads, we expect everyone to approach work with a focus on professionalism, life mastery, self-determination, collaboration and reflection, just as we expect that we all are accommodating of the mistakes we make along the way. We consider mistakes a healthy part of a learning process, so we should use every opportunity to reflect on and learn from the mistakes we make.

It requires focus on psychological safety in the workplace, which we must always strive to maintain and develop together. Psychological safety is a shared responsibility among management, employees and union representatives, and you must therefore be willing to actively participate in maintaining and further developing psychological safety.

We expect everyone to pull their weight in the workplace — it is a shared responsibility that we achieve our goals — both regarding direct work with the core task, but also in collegial collaboration and cooperation with relatives and partners.

We therefore require both the desire and the ability to collaborate and take responsibility, and although we understand that individuals may have more energy at certain times than others, we expect that you do not ‘clock out’ and thereby leave the ship entirely to others to steer.

We work from values such as collaboration, decency, development and equality — values you can expect to encounter in collaboration with colleagues and management, and we expect that you can see yourself represented in these same values in collaboration with us and with the residents.

About the positions and multidisciplinary expectations

In daily life, the majority of the work consists of supporting the residents in the facility and ensuring well-being and development. We work from the residents’ §141 action plan with goals, sub-goals and actions to ensure that we achieve the results set. The written work should be prioritized as an equally important part of the job as the time spent with residents.

We also focus on ensuring that you have the opportunity to use and develop your monodisciplinary skills in daily work.

Work is based on SMART goals, and we continuously ensure resident involvement in goal formulation so that we ensure the resident’s voice is heard and forms the basis for our work.

There is a large variation in the support needs of residents, which naturally means that there is variation in the tasks your day will consist of. The extent of support ranges widely, and you should expect everything from personal care to cognitive development conversations.

The majority of residents are in activity or employment programs on weekdays, but they need support with ordinary daily tasks when they come home. At the same time, there may be support for participation in activities inside and outside the house, support for personal care, training of skills, exercise and close social contact.

Regardless of professional group, all staff participate in the daily tasks, activities and care with the residents as well as in the practical work in the house.

The pedagogical assistants’ tasks include care, support, activity planning and participation in daily life, all in close collaboration with pedagogues and other professionals. You are expected, to the same extent as your colleagues, to contribute to professional sparring and to the work on residents’ well-being and development.

About working hours

The working hours vary between day, evening and weekend work. Since most residents are in activity programs on weekdays, there is a majority of shifts in the evening hours.

Shifts can start at 6:00 at the earliest and finish at 22:00 at the latest.

Shifts are up to 12 hours, but vary a lot.

We work from work plans that are comparable, which means that we try to distribute the shifts evenly among colleagues. There may be differences from house to house in the meeting times depending on the needs of the individual house.

You can expect on average 1 day shift and 3 evening shifts per week and to work every 3rd weekend when employed full-time.
