At Børnebyen Vandværket we have plenty of space. Quite concretely, we have unusually good physical premises – but we also have room for professionalism, different perspectives and for you to bring your own way of leading.

We are seeking a pedagogical leader for our baby unit. You will have your own clear leadership responsibility, a close leadership partner in Pernille, and you will become one of four pedagogical leaders in a leadership team with a new cluster leader.

About Børnebyen Vandværket

Børnebyen Vandværket is a large, integrated institution with a baby unit, a kindergarten, foundational places and an international department. We are centrally located in Copenhagen near the Central Station and Tivoli and are part of the Tivoli cluster.

As the new pedagogical leader you will have the primary leadership responsibility for the baby unit. Right now we have around 60 babies organized into three teams, and the baby unit also includes an English-speaking group.

And we have space. Vandværket’s premises allow for six to eight baby groups, and we have plenty of space both indoors and outdoors, separate playgrounds, a large hall and several functionally designed rooms. This provides good opportunities to create smaller communities and different pedagogical environments with space for both movement and calm.

You will have a leadership partner

You will have your own leadership responsibility for the baby unit and at the same time become leadership partner with Pernille, who is pedagogical leader for the kindergarten. Together you run Vandværket and the common direction for the house, while you each stay close to staff, children and parents in your part of the institution.

Pernille desires a leadership partner with whom she can share the leadership task, brainstorm and be curious together. You will gain an experienced and persistent leadership partner with a strong sense for the good child life and solid knowledge of Vandværket.

You do not have to be identical. You should be able to use each other’s differences, make each other look good, and together take responsibility for both everyday life and the development of Vandværket.

Close to everyday life – with a view to the direction

You should want to be a leader close to everyday life. Close enough to know what occupies children and staff – and at the same time with a view to the shared direction and what it takes to develop the good baby-life.

And fundamentally you should think that the security, development and daily life of very young children are among the most important things in the world. You should be focused on what creates good conditions for the youngest children – and be able to keep that focus clear in both the pedagogical and the leadership daily life.

You will be responsible for personnel management, professional development and operations. Good leadership also means that everyday life hangs together: that staffing and organization are under control, and that you can create structure and overview – even when the day doesn’t quite turn out as planned.

You will not solve the leadership task alone. In addition to close cooperation with your leadership partner, you will work closely with Vandværket’s TRIO and the parents’ council. This requires that you want dialogue, can bring different perspectives into play, and at the same time stand clearly on your leadership responsibility.

We hope you are curious about practice, can create followership and want to bring staff professionalism into play. You are a trained pedagogue and are happy to come with leadership experience and leadership education – or with a desire to develop yourself further as a leader.

The most important thing is that you have something professional to say, can make everyday life function, and want to put yourself into the leadership task.

You will become part of a new leadership team

You will become one of four pedagogical leaders in the Tivoli cluster. In addition to Pernille you will have two pedagogical leadership colleagues and a new cluster leader.

This means you join at a time when there is an opportunity to help shape how we want to be a leadership team together. We must be able to brainstorm, challenge and help each other – and together take responsibility for our own institutions and the shared direction in the cluster.

Employment terms

Employment is done in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

The position is full-time with start date 1 January 2027.

In connection with the employment, we will obtain child and criminal records checks and take references.
