Pedagogical-psychological expert for the Children and Youth Committee in Egedal and Frederikssund Municipality

Do you want to help make a difference for vulnerable children and young people? The Family Court Administration (Familieretshuset) is seeking pedagogical-psychological experts who will participate in Egedal and Frederikssund Municipalities' Child and Youth Committee. The committee makes decisions on, among other things, placements and contact for vulnerable children and young people who are placed outside the home.

Your knowledge is important

You will be appointed as a pedagogical-psychological expert in Egedal and/or Frederikssund Municipality's Child and Youth Committee. There is a Child and Youth Committee in each of Denmark's 98 municipalities. The committee consists of two locally elected politicians, one judge, and two pedagogical-psychological experts, the latter of whom are appointed by the Family Law Agency (Familieretshuset).

It is the Child and Youth Committee that makes the decision when a municipality wishes to place a child or a young person outside the home or set the framework for contact. Based on the complete material that the municipality presents - including investigations - you, with your professional expertise, must relate to the situation of the vulnerable child or young person.

About you

There is no requirement to have a specific degree, but you must have a relevant psychological, social-pedagogical or child-related education. In addition, you must have documented experience from working with vulnerable children and young people. For example you may be a trained psychologist, psychiatrist or social worker with many years of experience and postgraduate and continuing education in the field.

You must be able to document

• Relevant higher education
• Relevant continuing or postgraduate education or courses
• Experience from the child and youth field, including particularly vulnerable children and young people

Thus with your experience and assessment you must ensure that the decisions rest on a solid child-related basis, and to the necessary extent take into account the best interests of the child - in accordance with the purpose of providing special support to children and young people. Therefore it is not essential which education you have, as long as you bring your experience and professional expertise into play in complex and often difficult decisions.

Scope of work and practicalities

It is the Family Court Administration that appoints the pedagogical-psychological experts for all municipalities, while the municipality handles the committee's administration and approves the fee request, etc.

The appointment applies until and including 2029 .

It is difficult to estimate how many times you will be summoned. Most have it as a side activity.

Last year 95% of cases were resolved at planned meetings, but there may be a need for meetings with short notice – the urgent meetings – within a week. You must therefore be prepared for this.

If you are appointed, you must establish a CVR number, which is free for personally owned businesses. You must also be willing to use both digital settlement and the municipalities' digital case processing .

If you work with children or young people in a municipality, you cannot be a pedagogical-psychological expert in the same place.

Fees

Fees are billed based on an hourly rate of 819.27 DKK in 2025, and there is a fixed number of hours per case type. See the full model for fees in the fact box at the bottom.

The appointments are made in accordance with § 19, paragraph 1, no. 3, of the Act on Legal Security and Administration in the Social Field, Royal Decree No. 354 of 2 April 2025. The basis for the committee's work, including rules on the members' eligibility to participate in the decision of individual cases, is stated in the Rules of Procedure for the Child and Youth Committees, Royal Decree No. 1249 of 29/10/2025.
