Foster family for Family Care, Children and Young People

Are you approved as a specialized foster family with the Socialtilsynet? Do you have experience working with children with severe emotional and social challenges? Can you take in a lovely 14-year-old boy? Then you may be the ones we are seeking in Foster Care in Skanderborg Municipality!

It is both rewarding and demanding to be a foster family. It requires patience, openness and capacity, while your family receives much in return and experiences the joy of having a great impact in a child’s life.

Foster family for a 14-year-old boy

The boy was placed in a residential setting about 12 months ago. He is glad to live at the residence, but he himself wishes to move into a foster family. We in Skanderborg Municipality also assess this to be good for him.

The boy wants to be with the adults and other children, and he wants to go far in life and has dreams.

The boy has a strong caregiving instinct.

Among activities he really enjoys are playing football, riding an ATV, going on fishing trips, being practical in a workshop, and going on trips to, for example, Djurs Sommerland. He likes animals (dogs, horses, etc.) and e-sports.

The boy has in his upbringing been subjected to a great deal of neglect, which has resulted in major challenges, e.g. socially, in terms of self-esteem and with regard to boundary-crossing behavior.

As a foster family you must

• Be approved as a specialized foster family
• Offer calm, structure and predictability
• Offer presence and care
• Meet the child with a mentalizing and validating approach
• Possess patience and resilience
• Be prepared to work with a treatment-oriented approach to the boy’s challenges
• Not have children living at home under 16 years old
• Collaborate with the child’s network and us as the municipality

We offer you

• Supervision group for foster families four times a year
• 3-4 annual training days
• Ongoing supervision
• In a concrete case, remuneration will be paid according to Skanderborg Municipality’s vederlagsmodel according to KL tariffs – 10 vederlag.

In the Secretariat for Children & Youth we work with children, youths and families. We cover the entire 0-18 year range – from general areas with health visiting, day care, schools, after-school clubs to the special area with PPR and the social area with SSP and child social counseling.
