About the job

We are a well-functioning ward with 20 beds, with a safe, good working environment and a busy daily life. We are a staff group where several have many years of experience – so there is a possibility for good backup, as a newly graduated or if you are new to the specialty.

We offer

  • Permanent position as of January 1 or by agreement
  • 37 hours or by agreement
  • Mixed shifts – primarily 2-shift schedule on a 4-week plan
  • Work every 2nd or 3rd weekend by wish

For us, good nursing is about creating good patient pathways, where the individual patient's wishes and needs are central to care and treatment of a high professional quality. To strengthen our work with this, we are seeking a professionally and clinically strong nurse who is passionate about medical nursing in close interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.

The department receives around-the-clock acute medical patients mainly from AKM, with endocrinological and/or general medical diseases.

We see the younger patient with newly discovered diabetes, possibly in ketoacidosis, the dysregulated diabetes patient with late complications – diabetic foot ulcers, diabetic kidney failure and neuropathy.

Thyrotoxicosis-, Myxedema-, Addison’s and Osteoporosis patients are typically followed in our outpatient clinic, but with acute deterioration in the disease these patients are admitted to the bed ward.

In the more general medical area, we see patients with pain issues, the acute patient with infection, patients with electrolyte disturbances, the chronically ill patient with complex medical problems and cancer patients under investigation/treatment as well as in the palliative course.

In connection with these often complex courses, close interdisciplinary collaboration across other departments, primary care sector and with the patient's relatives is required to create the best possible course for the patient.

We can offer a department with

  • Motivated, engaged and competent colleagues in a broad mix of age, ethnicity, experience and seniority within the endocrinological and medical specialty.
  • Introduction period to the department:
  • You are assigned a Mentor + Development Nurse
  • You follow Mentor's on-call schedule for 6-8 weeks– this is individually adjusted.
  • Planned conversations with/Mentor/Development Nurse and Head Nurse
  • Ongoing 1:1 conversations with the head nurse
  • Internal teaching in collaboration with the department's doctors and nurses
  • A program in ”Start in Nursing” – 3-day course, including review of ABCDE- Diabetes patient, etc.
  • ”Well on the way in nursing”, 7-day course, incl. 2 simulation trainings – for the newly graduated nurse
  • A work environment and a leadership approach, focusing on well-being in a busy daily life through collaboration, trust and fairness with the core task in focus.
  • Influence on on-call planning via Optima

Opportunity for Competence Development in the department after a structured intro program

  • You are offered an individual education program and career discussion.
  • Hereunder possibility for Endocrinology specialty course as well as other relevant courses and continuing education.
  • Develop particular competence in relevant areas as the department's resource person in various areas
  • Course in guiding nursing students – possibly Diploma module

We work with

  • Development of endocrinological and medical nursing, with particular focus on fundamental nursing, with Fundamentals of Care as reference framework.
  • Focus on documentation
  • Focus on cross-sector collaboration – based on the Communication Agreement
  • Professionally justified division of labor, the Synergy Model.
  • Fixed Time-outs during the shift – based on the Priority Triangle – so the workload is not on the individual – but shared in the group
  • Reflection in daily work, especially ”bedside” and in 2 Teams, where you in close collaboration with a colleague / mentor / development nurse, can reflect on the many complex nursing tasks.
  • 15 professional minutes, where current issues are addressed.
  • To maintain a good study environment for students
  • To maintain a good work environment where there is room to be different and to develop professionally and personally.

We expect from you

  • that you have endocrinology/medical experience or the desire to learn it
  • experience with, or interest in, interdisciplinary- and cross-sector collaboration,
  • that you are responsible and value collaboration
  • that you will contribute to a continued good working environment
