Interns sought for green projects - still open for interns in climate adaptation!

Do you want to build a green career? Then Gate 21 might be the first step on the road!

As an intern with us you can help create and run green projects in partnerships between municipalities, companies and knowledge institutions. Gate 21 leads the projects, where partners develop, test and demonstrate innovative solutions for the green transition.

As an intern at Gate 21 you get the freedom to develop and try yourself out with exciting tasks, strong professional support and training. You become part of a dynamic and diverse professional environment with engaged colleagues who have a large green network. You will be responsible for your own tasks and participate in projects together with project managers, where we are curious about your input and wishes for tasks.

We will challenge you so you develop and gain new competencies and experiences. You will have an internship mentor who introduces you to the projects you will work on and what the project management task entails in the project. You and your internship mentor hold regular status meetings and follow up on tasks and expectations. The tasks are project-related and therefore often unpredictable, varied and sometimes practical – and not always academic.

You will become part of our onboarding program and our intern forum across the organization.

We are seeking interns for the following areas: Energy, Areas, Circular Transformation, Climate Plans, Data and Climate Adaptation. Read more about each area below.

Climate adaptation for autumn 2026

In the climate adaptation team we work with municipalities and knowledge environments to strengthen resilience to sea level rise, heat, cloudbursts, sub-surface groundwater and other climate risks. We work both strategically and in planning climate adaptation in climate plans and practically with projects where new solutions are tested and scaled."

In autumn 2026 we are looking for an intern who will help support (EU) projects and municipalities' work with climate adaptation. You will be attached to the Climate Alliance in the Zealand East Region, where you help municipalities strengthen their climate adaptation efforts and contribute to recertification. Here there is great opportunity to build good relationships with different key actors in Denmark.

You will also have the opportunity to involve yourself in climate adaptation projects – for example on nature-based solutions, local handling of rainwater or planning for heat and drought. In addition you will support workshops and development of tools that help municipalities translate strategies into actions.

Qualifications

As an intern you are

• enrolled in a relevant long higher education program and have a professional foundation and curiosity within Gate 21’s areas. You MUST be able to receive academic credit for the internship. The internship is unpaid.
• ambitious and engaged in the green transition – and with a particular curiosity for climate action in partnerships and project management.
• proactive – or want to try yourself in a more proactive role – and you are willing to support collaborations, partnerships and progress across different stakeholders in partnerships.
• a team player who independently takes responsibility for lifting diverse tasks in the projects - large as well as small. You should be willing to develop your skills in project management. And you should not be afraid to say yes to and no to tasks.
• keen to communicate and present project results, and you enjoy organizing meetings and professional workshops.
• fluent in Danish – spoken and written.

We hire internships only for the Climate Adaptation area for autumn 2026. We will reopen in autumn for other areas as internships for spring 2027.
