About the job

Do you want to steer the engine room in an ambitious citizen involvement initiative in the Green Tripartite? Gate 21 is looking for a senior project manager who masters sharp project management, administrative precision and large-scale execution.

The agreement on a Green Denmark is changing the Danish landscape. But the change will only succeed if citizens, associations, landowners and municipalities are engaged directly. Gate 21, together with our consortium partners, has won the task of running the national effort for social engagement and participation in the Green Tripartite. The project, which lasts three years, is financed by the Novo Nordisk Foundation through the Ministry of Nature and Animal Welfare. We call the initiative Together for the Landscapes of the Future.

We are looking for a robust operations- and process-focused senior project manager who can bind the consortium, ministry, foundation, municipalities and collaborators together in targeted execution.

Your primary tasks

As a senior project manager you will have the overall responsibility for steering the project’s two main tracks:

  • The Laboratory for Local Involvement - up to 130 local involvement processes and 2 annual national conferences. The consortium develops together a number of ‘packages’ with different types of involvement processes.
  • National Future Workshops . There will be six future workshops during the period.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues at Gate 21 and our partners in the consortium: We Do Democracy, SDU and the Queen Mary Center at KU, as well as the Ministry of Nature and Animal Welfare.

The majority of your day will involve

  • Management and coordination between the cross-consortium, ministry and foundation: Build and maintain time and activity plans, ensure semi-annual reporting on finances and deliverables, and deliver decision-ready notes to the civil service at the Ministry of Nature and Animal Welfare and Novo Nordisk Foundation.
  • Logistical execution at large scale: Ensure operations behind 40–45 annual local involvement processes in municipalities across the country (booking, agreements with facilitators, materials and quality assurance). This also includes planning and execution of the annual national conferences and future workshops.
  • Pipeline and municipal demand: Create close dialogue with municipalities and local Green Tripartite partners so municipalities gain insight into and can request the initiative’s ‘process packages’.
  • Interface coordination: Drive a trusting and professional collaboration with our partners and the external communications provider, which handles citizen debates, the website and campaign materials.
  • Evaluation and knowledge gathering: In close collaboration with consortium partners ensure consistent evaluation methods and translate experiences into sharp status and final reports.

Who are you?

The position requires a sharp operations- and process leader rather than a theoretical professional. You thrive with timelines, budgets, logistics and administrative frameworks – and you stay calm when the tempo is high.

We imagine you

  • have at least 5–8 years of solid experience with managing large, complex and preferably multi-year million-euro projects - for example foundation-supported projects, EU programs or cross-public partnerships.
  • understand the civil service logic and workflows and can deliver precise, decision-ready case documentation for ministerial approval loops.
  • are strong in financial and contract management with an eye for budget follow-up and realized results.
  • have high relationship skills and diplomatic tact , so you seamlessly collaborate with civil servants, municipal case handlers, landowners and external advisors.
  • have good contextual understanding of the green transition, the reality of municipalities and the Green Tripartite.
  • are structured, proactive and execution-oriented – you see challenges early and come with solutions.

About Gate 21

We are a non-profit partnership with just under 60 engaged colleagues. We bring together more than 80 municipalities, regions, companies and knowledge institutions around concrete green solutions.

We offer an informal workplace with a high ceiling, a strong professional community and a focus on balancing work life and leisure. We sing a Friday morning song, value community and work purposefully for the green transition.

The practical

  • Employment form: Full-time
  • Workplace: Gate 21, Liljens Kvarter 2, 2620 Albertslund (close to train/bus/light rail) with flexibility and remote work options. Travel activity in Denmark in connection with involvement processes and conferences should be expected.
  • Salary: Negotiated individually. Salary range disclosed before the first round of interviews.
  • Application deadline: 12 November 2026, expected start date 1 January 2027.
  • Interviews: conducted on an ongoing basis. There will be two rounds of interviews. At the second interview, a short case task focusing on process and ministerial servicing will be included.
