Preventive Child and Adolescent Counselor for the Reception at the Center for Child and Adolescent Counseling

Our good colleague has moved on to pursue their dream job and, at the same time, we are expanding the team of preventive child and adolescent counselors. Therefore we are looking for two new colleagues in our reception. Both positions are 37 hours per week with a start on January 1, 2027.

In Ballerup Municipality we are focused on meeting citizens and partners in a proper and qualified manner. We want to start our collaborations well and on time, and therefore we are seeking a colleague who together with us in the reception will handle the first contact with citizens and partners.

In the reception we are 16 child and adolescent counselors. We are four who primarily work with duty shifts and (soon) 12 who work preventively in schools and in day-care. As a preventive child and adolescent counselor we work consultatively and provide advice and guidance to partners, children and families. We screen all new notifications and offer advice and guidance programs to children and families, either as programs we themselves manage or, in special cases, refer to our family house.

When we decide that a case should be explored, we refer the family onward to our family team. In cases where the child and family need immediate help, we decide on concurrent support.

The reception is organized in the Child and Youth Department in the Center for Child and Adolescent Counseling. The Center for Child and Adolescent Counseling consists, in addition to the reception, of a family team, a consultancy team, and a management team. In the Center for Child and Adolescent Counseling we are organized together with PPR, health services, Ballerup Family House and a staff.

Your main tasks

As our new colleague you should be prepared for your tasks to span widely and vary over time. You must be able to thrive with both being an authority and taking action. This means that you will both handle notifications, hold dialogue-based notification meetings, and offer yourself as a resource for action under the Child Act §30. At the same time, you will be the representative of the Child and Adolescent Department in the consultative cooperation with our schools and day-care facilities and other partners.

Your core tasks are screening of notifications and inquiries in new cases, you must be a sparring partner for schools and day-care, provide advice and guidance to children, young people and families, and manage guidance programs – and we help each other across when necessary.

The two positions differ slightly. The core task is the same, but in one position there is also a task as family counselor for Ukrainian refugees while the other position includes participation in our accessible treatment offer.

Family Counselor: As a family counselor you will participate in the reception of Ukrainian refugees under 18 years old. You will support the families and ensure that the children settle well in Ballerup Municipality and in their schools and day-care facilities. Especially in relation to unaccompanied refugee minors under 18, you have a special task. The overall family counseling task is shared between two preventive child and adolescent counselors.

The accessible treatment offer: Your task in our accessible treatment offer "Together for Psychological Well-being" is to hold pre-consultations with children and families who wish to receive treatment. In the weeks when you have pre-consultations (2-3 conversations) you participate in a cross-disciplinary sparring meeting. In our accessible treatment offer you will need to collaborate with PPR, health services, the staff and the family house and four of your colleagues from the reception.

Your tasks may thus include

• Implementation of workflows and ways of collaborating
• Presentations to partners
• Offer open anonymous counseling
• Initiate advice and guidance programs
• Take on advice and guidance programs yourself
• Family counselor for Ukrainian refugees
• Be part of the pre-consultation team in the accessible treatment offer.

Your competencies

It is important that you have broad knowledge and experience within the child social area. It would be an advantage if you have experience from the authority field and that you thrive with a high degree of independence in your task solving.

Employment process and salary

The employment start date is January 1, 2027.

We expect to hold interviews on November 18, 2026.

The position is initially 37 hours and is a permanent position.

We offer salary and employment terms according to the collective agreement for social workers and social educators in municipalities.

Employment takes place according to the principles of local wage formation and after agreement with the bargaining organization entitled to negotiate.

The salary range for the position as social worker and social educator is 36,020 DKK – 42,000 DKK per month without pension for full-time employment (37 hours per week).

The final salary is determined after negotiation between the employer and the trade organization that has the rights to negotiate in the relevant collective agreement area. The salary depends, among other things, on your education, documented seniority and qualifications.
