About the job

Do you want to help ensure well-functioning buildings, good operation and well-executed construction projects at AARHUS TECH?

AARHUS TECH is seeking an engaged and structured project and operations manager who can both lead the daily building operation and drive construction projects safely to completion.

The position is a central part of the new organization of the Building Department, which takes effect on 1 January 2027. You will have an important role in creating coherence between operations, maintenance and projects across AARHUS TECH's addresses.

About the job

As project and operations manager you report to the building manager and become part of the Building Department. As project and operations manager you will also be part of AARHUS TECH's overall management. You will be responsible for the daily management, coordination and prioritization of the operations function as well as personnel responsibility for the school caretakers.

You will become the immediate supervisor of the school caretakers and have an important task in creating a well-functioning operations organization with clear goals, clear priorities and a good coherence between the daily tasks. You must be visible and accessible in everyday life, support employees in their task solving and ensure that tasks are solved efficiently, safely and with the right quality.

At the same time you will obtain an operational construction-technical project leadership role, following building and civil engineering tasks from the initial idea and needs clarification to execution and handover.

You will, among other things, work with

  • planning, design and coordination of building and civil engineering tasks
  • preparation and qualification of project materials, specifications and schedules
  • coordination of internal and external partners, consultants and contractors
  • follow-up on the progress, economy, quality, working environment and safety of projects
  • dialogue with the school's users and other stakeholders
  • daily coordination and prioritization of operational tasks at AARHUS TECH's addresses
  • follow-up on faults, deficiencies, operational disturbances and maintenance needs
  • coordination of access, room setup, relocations, preparations and events
  • economy and budget follow-up on own projects and the operations area

Management of the operations function

You will receive the daily management of the school caretakers and must ensure clear frameworks, good task division and a sensible prioritization of resources.

Your management tasks include, among other things

  • Planning and coordination of working hours, holidays, absence and on-call
  • Instruction and professional guidance of the employees
  • Follow-up on tasks, quality and development
  • Support for wellbeing, collaboration and a good working environment
  • Ongoing dialogue about tasks, expectations and development opportunities
  • MUS, wellbeing conversations and relevant follow-up talks
  • Contributing to recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees
  • Handling of personnel matters in collaboration with the building manager and HR

The overall personnel, economy and leadership responsibility for the Building Department lies with the building manager. You will manage the personnel within the framework and competence distribution established for the department.

Work environment, fire safety and collaboration

You will become the work environment manager for Occupational Health Group 16 and attached to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Here you contribute with operational, construction-technical and project knowledge.

You will also have tasks including

  • Self-inspection of fire equipment in ReadUnit
  • Contribution to the annual fire inspection as needed
  • Follow-up on safety and working environment in the operations area
  • Communication and stakeholder management
  • Support for the service manager in updating cleaning plans

We envisage that you

  • Have a relevant construction-technical education or equivalent experience
  • Have experience with project management within the building, civil engineering or real estate sector
  • Have understanding of operation and maintenance of buildings and technical installations
  • Have experience coordinating craftspeople, consultants, suppliers and other collaborators
  • Have management experience or a clear desire to develop as a leader
  • Can create an overview, prioritize tasks and follow up on agreements
  • Work in a structured way and have an eye for both detail and the big picture
  • Have understanding of finance, budget monitoring and resource prioritization
  • Communicate clearly and constructively with employees, users and partners
  • Thrive in a varied daily routine where tasks range from practical operations to strategic and technical coordination
  • Focus on the working environment, safety and quality

Det er en fordel, hvis du har kendskab til uddannelsesinstitutioner, offentlig organisation eller drift af bygninger på flere adresser.

  • Close collaboration with the building manager and other Building Department staff
  • At AARHUS TECH, students' learning and well-being are our core task. The Building Department plays an important role in creating the physical framework that supports a good school day and a safe learning environment
