About the job

Project staff member for The Church of Denmark for Internationals (FFI)

Are you eager to create church-based communities for internationals? Can you create a home away from home? Do you think that church and Christianity are meaningful and can contribute to a sense of belonging – also for the modern city dweller? Do you have experience developing activities that bring people together in fellowship? Are you outgoing and proactive?

Then you might be our new colleague in the project The Church of Denmark for Internationals , which works to open the Church of Denmark to the capital’s many foreigners, who make up about a quarter of the city’s population, a large portion of whom have a Christian background. FFI’s current project staff member has decided to try expat life abroad for a couple of years, so we are now looking for the next passionate person who wants to take the baton for the next two years.

The task

Our new colleague will, in close collaboration with the project’s attached priest, contribute to developing and running church activities in English. We hold services in English every Sunday at 1 p.m. in Eliaskirken in Vesterbro. Attendees are primarily adults between 25 and 60 years old and their children. In addition, FFI runs communal meals, grief groups, men’s groups, a choir, baby singing, toddler music, and some family activities. Through these, we invite the many international newcomers into the church.

In addition to the English-speaking congregation at Eliaskirken, FFI is working to spread English-language activities to other churches through networks and coordination. Concrete tasks in the position will include:

  • Organizing and carrying out church activities in English, including both practical tasks and relationship work
  • Developing new church activities for children and their adults
  • Recruitment, organization and involvement of volunteers :
  • Facilitating networks with and a sparring partner for churches developing English-language activities
  • Contact with key institutions and actors who also work with internationals

We emphasize that you

  • Are fluent in both English and Danish
  • Are outgoing and proactive
  • Have strong social skills and enjoy meeting new people
  • Are keen to develop – and preferably have experience with – church family and children activities
  • Have good collaboration skills and a sense for development
  • Can structure your work and be flexible
  • Know the Church of Denmark and the expat environment
  • Are not afraid to take on practical tasks

We offer

  • A varied job where you have plenty of room to put your own mark and contribute new ideas.
  • A collegial community with strong engagement
  • A pioneering role where you can make a big difference for other people

You will report to the board of The Church of Denmark for Internationals. On a daily basis, the work is planned together with the attached priest, who is the project manager for FFI. This is a two-year fixed-term contract from 1/1/2027 to 31/12/2028.

The project staff position at FFI is normed to 25 hours per week. If you prefer a full-time position, there will be an opportunity to combine it with tasks in Vesterbro Parish so that the position becomes 37 hours. For example, related to the parish’s work for families and children. In the autumn of 2026, the project “Unequal Weeks” was launched together with two other parishes in the Copenhagen Diocese.

Unequal Weeks is a community for families dealing with divorce close to life – a place with space for both children and adults, good meals and meeting others who know the same changes. We also have an ambition to start a children’s group for those affected by divorce, which you can help facilitate together with the leader of the children’s group. There may also be other diaconal or educational tasks within the parish’s work for children and youth depending on the applicant’s interests and competencies.

Please state in the application whether you are only interested in the 25-hour position at FFI or a full-time position.

Terms of employment

The employment will be covered by the Central Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10—the Central Organisation of 2010, and the Organizational Agreement between the Ministry of Church Affairs and CO10—the Central Organisation of 2010 for church employees with core duties as either parish clerk, parish assistant/church culture staff or church musician and the associated protocol for parish assistants.

There will be a provision for a fixed allowance and obligation to the position. The parish council’s proposed salary level is 26,006.77 DKK per month for a 25-hour week (current prices). For full-time employment the proposed salary level is 38,490.01 DKK.

You should be prepared to work Sundays and occasional evening hours. A criminal background check will be obtained in connection with the employment.

Applications must be submitted via the link on this page no later than 12/11. Interviews will be held on 19/11. Start date: 1/1/2027.

We want to reflect Danish society and encourage everyone, regardless of background, to apply for the position.
