About the job

We are strengthening our overall efforts in UBF

We are seeking an engaged psychologist for our departments in UBF. The target group is characterized by complex psychosocial challenges, often with a background of neglect, trauma and attachment disorders. Some of the children/young people are placed outside the home.

As a psychologist with us you will become a central professional in daily treatment work and an important sparring partner and supervisor for pedagogues and teachers.

Development Center for Children and Families, UBF is part of the Municipality of Næstved's overall special services for vulnerable children and youth.

UBF consists of a wide range of services: a child- and family-oriented day placement for up to 15 children and young people living at home, the 24/7 units: Elvergården, Ladbyhus, Kilden, Lunden and Kæret (Parent-child stay), which is a supportive and clarifying offering.

In addition we have our internal school, Skolen Ved Åsen, for up to 25 pupils distributed across residential and day students, as well as Foster Care.

There is a close multidisciplinary collaboration between UBF and the units in Center for Children and Youth as well as Center for Daycare - School and Prevention regarding the interventions that are implemented.

The psychologist shall, based on concrete priorities, service the departments in UBF - in collaboration with our other psychologist, social worker and department managers. In addition, the psychologist will contribute to supporting our efforts with children in foster families.

The treatment at residential and day care rests on a psychodynamic developmental-psychological framework and a mentalization-based milieu-therapeutic method.

The target group consists of normally intelligent children and young people aged 0-17 years distributed across our five residential departments, who due to early emotional frustration and/or extensive neglect and trauma in the first years of life have developed significant emotional injuries, which among other things cause extensive attachment disorders.

Some of the children attend the internal school at Elvergården.

About the position

As a psychologist you will have a varied role with both direct treatment work and an important supportive and consulting function in the organization. You will work with conversations and therapeutic processes with children, young people and parents and at the same time contribute to strengthening the pedagogical and treatment efforts through professional sparring, supervision and collaboration with staff and management.

You will become part of a multidisciplinary environment where different professionalities work closely together to create coherent and development-oriented interventions for children and young people. The psychologist's perspective plays an important role in this collaboration, both in concrete treatment work and in the shared understanding of the needs of the children and the young people.

Your tasks will be varied and broad. You will among other things

  • Actively contribute to treatment conferences and professional meetings where we jointly develop and qualify the interventions.
  • Plan and conduct therapeutic programs – individually and in groups.
  • Support and qualify the pedagogical and educational work through ongoing sparring and supervision of pedagogues and teachers.
  • Help develop and translate mentalization-based and milieu-therapeutic approaches into everyday practice.
  • Contribute as a speaker at our internal training KURS and help strengthen the shared professional development.
  • Prepare psychological assessments, status descriptions and treatment plans.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and testing with a view to the individual child's or young person's needs and development opportunities.

We imagine that you

  • You are a trained psychologist (cand.psych. or cand.pæd.psych.) and have experience with – or a particular interest in – working with vulnerable children and young people. Perhaps you have experience from a children's and youth home or another area where children and young people require a special treatment and pedagogical approach.
  • You have experience with personality and cognitive testing as well as therapeutic work with children and young people – both individually and in groups. You are familiar with trauma-informed interventions as well as attachment and developmental psychology and can use your psychological knowledge to understand the needs of the children and young people and support their development.
  • You enjoy being close to practice and are motivated to translate psychological knowledge into concrete educational and treatment actions. You can communicate your knowledge in a way that makes sense and provides value to others, and you are keen to share your perspectives and methods with both children, parents, pedagogues, teachers and other partners.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with early, preventive and development-supporting interventions for children aged 0-3 years who are at risk of developmental problems.
  • You can participate in a daily practice that requires a high degree of physical presence in UBF as the tasks require close dialogue, coordination, and ongoing collaboration with staff and management.

In summary

We offer a meaningful and diverse role with a high degree of professional responsibility and the opportunity to influence the development of our treatment and pedagogical practice. You will have good opportunities to bring your psychological perspectives into play and help shape the direction of the interventions in work with vulnerable children and young people.

You will become part of a committed multidisciplinary community where professions and perspectives are actively brought into play around a common task, and where we prioritize professional reflection, sparring and quality in the work. We place emphasis on good collaboration skills, curiosity and a desire to contribute to the continued development of our shared practice.

You will also receive external supervision and opportunities for ongoing professional development based on everyday tasks and challenges.

For us, relationships, continuity and steady perseverance are central elements in the work with children and young people.
