Director for Nibe Festival
This position offers a rare opportunity to lead one of Denmark's most prominent cultural and experiential organizations and at the same time further develop an institution of great importance for both the local community, voluntary work and Danish cultural life.
The incoming director will have the opportunity to shape the festival's next development phase, including continued professionalization of the organization, development of new partnerships and business areas, and strengthening the festival's position among Denmark's leading experience and culture actors.
We are seeking the leader who can make 5,000 volunteers feel ownership while creating a strong and sustainable business. That is what makes the role truly unique.
Secure the festival's continued strong development
In this newly created role as director you will have overall responsibility for the festival's continued development, operation and personnel leadership, with great respect for Nibe Festival's DNA and history.
You must ensure that Nibe Festival continues its positive development as a professional and financially strong organization while preserving and strengthening the festival's unique culture, voluntarism and local anchoring.
You will be responsible for translating the board's strategic ambitions into concrete results and at the same time be the unifying leader between the board, employees, volunteers, authorities, sponsors and other partners.
The job requires a clear presence at Nibe Festival's office.
Tasks and areas of responsibility include
- Strategic leadership; development of Nibe Festival's long-term strategy in collaboration with the board and identify new opportunities for development, growth and innovation.
- Leadership, HR and organizational development; lead and develop the permanent organization and create clear direction and coherence between professional employees and volunteer leadership structures. In addition, as director you must ensure a smooth generational handover among the organization's key personnel in close collaboration with them.
- Commercial development; have overall responsibility for finances, results and budgets, develop existing and new sponsor and partnership relationships and identify new revenue sources with respect for the festival's values and purpose.
- Build and maintain strong relationships to sponsors and business community, voluntary organizations, authorities and public stakeholders, cultural institutions, media and other partners.
- Operations and delivery; ensure professional and safe festival execution and other activities, and handle governance, risk management and regulatory affairs, and ensure continued focus on guest experience, sustainability and quality.
Activate, motivate and lead through others
We imagine you have solid experience from a leadership position where you have had overall responsibility for strategy, finances, organization and business development.
You have worked closely with a board and are used to navigating between strategic ambitions and operational execution.
At the same time you have a natural understanding of the interaction between people, culture and organization and the ability to build commitment around common goals.
A significant part of the role is about being able to activate, motivate and lead through others without necessarily having formal managerial authority. Therefore you have experience in creating engagement, ownership and common direction in organizations where relationships, culture and values are decisive drivers. You understand the importance of voluntarism and community and can create strong frameworks that make it attractive for people to engage and contribute to a common mission.
Experience from culture, experience, tourism, sport, member or association-driven organizations would be an advantage, but most important is your documented ability to create followership, develop organizations and mobilize people around a common vision. The role requires a leader who can think strategically, act commercially and at the same time safeguard the culture and community that constitute the foundation of Nibe Festival.
You are a unifying leader who creates followership and trust around you. You manage to bring together many different people and interests around a common goal. As a leader you understand how to communicate and delegate tasks in an inspiring and proper way.
You are visible and approachable, and available, with an engaging and natural interest in people.
