About the job

We are looking for an experienced personnel leader who thrives close to daily operations, stands secure in their leadership role and takes responsibility both for their own operations and for the shared management task.

The temporary housing arrangement has in connection with the reception of the many Ukrainian displaced experienced growth. The accommodation has grown steadily over the past years and now comprises a number of different types of temporary housing at several addresses in Copenhagen. We are currently housing more than 4,000 residents. The task is in constant change and requires that you thrive in a dynamic everyday life.

As daily manager you are involved in ensuring a safe place to live and a well-functioning accommodation for the new Copenhagen residents. You will be responsible for the daily operations of a main location and the smaller accommodation sites and dwellings attached to it. Here you will lead a fixed team of 8-12 accommodation hosts, whom you have the daily personnel management of.

The role as daily manager spans broadly – from personnel leadership and ensuring the team resolves the varied practical tasks to planning activities, dialogue with partners and handling issues among residents. It is a practice-oriented leadership role where you must be visible and accessible to the staff, know your operation and be able to prioritise, make decisions and follow up in a changing daily life.

The primary tasks relate to the accommodation itself, including reception and moving out residents, internal relocations, patrols and fire preparedness, handling goods and inventory as well as conversations with residents about house rules. The staff work in three defined roles as practical employee, host and guide. This also includes coordination with other authorities and administrations as well as work to support good neighbourliness and a positive and peaceful coexistence among residents with different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

You will become part of a management group with 10 other daily managers, four department heads and two accommodation managers, who together cover all locations across Copenhagen. The accommodation is staffed with day, evening and weekend shifts on both weekdays and holidays, so you will thus have staff at work.

As daily manager you report to a department head, and you are expected to take responsibility and find practice-oriented solutions in your own operation, but also to recognise when experiences and issues should be escalated and led upward. At the same time you must be able to translate the overarching framework, decisions and concrete workflows into practical actions at your locations.

The accommodation

The organisational umbrella of the accommodation is in Jobcenter København together with the municipality's reception and employment services for refugees to ensure a coherent integration effort for new refugees in Copenhagen. The locations are residents' own home. The staff's powers and areas of responsibility are therefore limited to the handling of the practical, logistical and supporting functions in connection with the temporary accommodation and its framework.

Job tasks

As daily manager you will have responsibility for about 8-12 employees and a wide range of tasks such as

  • ensure a stable and safe operation of the part of the Accommodation you are responsible for
  • contribute to development and adjustment of common workflows and translate them into concrete practice
  • take care of daily personnel management including setting direction, prioritising tasks and following up on staff task execution and well-being
  • plan staffing and ensure that resources and tasks align in daily operations
  • ensure capacity management of the temporary housing
  • handle incidents, conflicts and unforeseen operational issues and ensure the necessary follow-up
  • conduct conversations with residents about house rules, including handling of warnings and evictions
  • coordinate building maintenance, volunteer efforts and activities, and collaboration with relevant internal and external parties
  • actively contribute with practical experience and concrete issues from own locations in collaboration with the other daily managers, department heads and accommodation managers

We expect that you

  • have solid and concrete operational experience and are used to creating structure, prioritising and following up in a complex and changing everyday life
  • see yourself as part of a committed management community and actively contribute to common solutions, workflows and minimum standards that work across – based on the principle of one integrated Accommodation
  • are an experienced, visible and practice-oriented personnel leader who stands secure in your leadership role, knows your operation and is close to the staff's task execution
  • take responsibility and find practice-oriented solutions in your own operation with a view to its importance for the Accommodation as a whole
  • can translate common decisions, workflows and frameworks into concrete action in your own operation
  • can handle resistance, conflicts and unforeseen incidents with calm and clarity
  • create constructive work communities and develop staff competencies and responsibility in task execution
  • are good at collaborating and communicating – with fellow leaders, staff, residents and partners
  • can operate in a politically governed organisation and have relevant educational background
  • are prepared to be flexible, so your presence to some extent reflects the operation, including being able to cover the need for managerial accessibility outside normal working hours

We offer you

  • a exciting and versatile leadership position with a broad area of responsibility, where days are not the same
  • a clear framework and structure, where safe and efficient operation is central
  • opportunity to shape and develop an area in ongoing change
  • a challenging and developing job with a large contact surface and more than 10 leadership colleagues
  • a place in a strong leadership community, where we share experiences from the operations and develop solutions and common practices that work across one integrated Accommodation
  • a close collaboration with dedicated colleagues who are passionate about the task

Your area of responsibility may change over time, and you may therefore be responsible for different locations and forms of accommodation across the city.
