About the job

Would you like to create value with digitalisation and help strengthen and develop the IT architecture function at Roskilde University? We are currently seeking two experienced IT architects who can translate strategic goals and our choice of a balanced approach to digital sovereignty into concrete architecture principles and technology choices.

At Roskilde University we are in the middle of an ambitious digital development. We are strengthening our digital foundation and implementing new solutions that support research, education and administration. In addition, we are working to ensure that Digital is perceived as a collaborative, clear and professional partner, with the ability to find solutions that fit the many different user needs at the university.

This development places higher demands on a coherent IT architecture, common principles and clear frameworks for technology choices. Therefore, we are now expanding our IT architecture function with two experienced IT architects with different professional profiles in security and technology architecture, information and application architecture.

About Digital

As an IT architect you will become part of the Digitisation unit in Digital, which is the university’s central IT department with about 70 employees and responsible for IT, digitalisation, information security as well as project and process methods. We support the university’s approx. 900 staff and 6,500 students. Good and coherent digital solutions are essential for our users.

The Digitisation unit consists of 16 employees who develop and manage the university’s common digital solutions and platforms. We contribute to the university’s technological direction through IT architecture, common principles and technology choices. We develop and manage the university’s AI, automation and data platforms, drive development and adoption of Microsoft 365 and Copilot, and develop applications and integrations that create coherence across the university’s systems.

An IT architecture function in development

The work with IT architecture is organised across Digital, where employees with different professional profiles and competencies collaborate, among other things, to assess new needs for digitalisation, conduct IT architecture reviews, prepare solution designs and provide IT advisory / sparring.

To drive the work with the IT architecture area and ensure common frameworks and principles, you will, as part of the strengthened architecture function, play a central role in further developing common architectural principles, ensuring coherence in the IT landscape and translating strategic goals into concrete technological solutions.

Job responsibilities

One of your main tasks will be to establish and professionalise the IT architecture work at the University. Your tasks will include, among others:

  • taking into account applicable laws and information security in both design and operation
  • driving and setting the framework for work in Digital’s cross-functional architecture group

You work in a structured way, see the value of documentation at the right level and focus on ensuring the necessary progress and supporting business needs with the right solutions that create as much value as possible.

We place emphasis on the fact that you

  • have several years of experience with analysis and design of IT solutions, knowledge of FDA and can assess the consequences of architecture changes for the IT landscape, standards and strategies
  • have experience with IT architecture modelling and the use of architecture tools and methods, such as ArchiMate and TOGAF, to document, for example, as-is and to-be architectures and to create overview.
  • can balance architectural quality and progress so that the solutions are durable and can be implemented in practice
  • have the ability to create good collaborative relations and involve relevant parties, just as you are happy to participate in cross-unit tasks in Digital
  • have good process skills and can analyse, facilitate and communicate solution proposals and technical issues in Danish and English and are comfortable standing at a whiteboard
  • have a vision for digital sovereignty and can assess technology choices with focus on data control, vendor dependencies and technological independence
  • take ownership and responsibility for your own and shared tasks and can maintain an overview of several simultaneous tasks
  • have a relevant advanced degree

Depending on your professional profile we also place emphasis on the following competencies:

  • have experience with application architecture and can create coherence between systems, data and information flows across the organisation
  • can develop and anchor data governance, including principles and standards for data ownership, data quality, metadata and data management
  • have experience with information modelling, data modelling and structuring of data across systems and applications
  • have experience with data architecture and data platforms, including data warehouses, data integrations and technical design, and can assess implications for development and operation
  • have broad technological experience and can develop technical architecture principles, standards and target pictures across platforms and infrastructure
  • have experience with security architecture and can translate requirements for information security, availability and robustness into concrete solution designs
  • can assess technology choices and architecture changes with a focus on integration, scalability, operation and technical debt

We offer a professional environment with the opportunity to influence both the technological direction and the development of our shared IT-architecture function. There is a short path from idea to decision, and we value collaboration, professional sparring and responsibility for common solutions. We also know that no one can do it all, and therefore we prioritise continuing education and ongoing competence development.
