Professionally competent substance abuse counselor sought for Brønderslev Substance Abuse Center

Due to expansion of the target group with treatment for children and adolescents down to 12 years old, we are increasing the team with another substance abuse counselor.

We are seeking a substance abuse counselor for a 37-hour position with start on January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

We are looking for a counselor with a basic education as a pedagogue, experience with substance abuse treatment in practice, and preferably knowledge and possible experience with working with children and adolescents down to 12 years old who use substances.

About Brønderslev Substance Abuse Center

Brønderslev Substance Abuse Center handles outpatient substance and alcohol abuse treatment in Brønderslev Municipality and is a referral service for residents with periodic or longer-term misuse of substances and medicines.

The center's purpose is to offer the individual citizen the relevant help so that the citizen can stop their misuse of drugs, alcohol and medicines, or have their consumption reduced or stabilized if cessation is not possible. In addition, the goal is to prevent and treat addiction-related illnesses as well as to stabilize and improve the citizen's social and health situation.

The offering consists of

• Individual treatment, both for drugs and alcohol for citizens within the broad target group
• Substitution treatment

We expect that you

• Have a basic education as a pedagogue.
• Have experience with substance abuse treatment and an understanding of the necessary development processes.
• Thrive in working independently and see interdisciplinary collaboration as a necessity to perform the core task.
• Be able to develop treatment plans in collaboration with the citizen.
• Can work purposefully in a treatment alliance.
• Understand working in a politically governed organization within the terms, frameworks, rules, and guidelines that apply in a publicly led organization.
• Can communicate professionally, both orally and in writing.
• Be able to document targeted efforts for the individual citizen.
• Be loyal to joint decisions.

We are a team of 3 substance abuse counselors and 2 substitution therapists.

All with several years of experience in the substance abuse field.

Additionally, 1 department manager who handles day-to-day leadership of two units.

Your primary task regarding the advertised position

Provide substance abuse treatment to citizens from age 12 and up, with particular focus on a targeted, coherent and coordinating effort for the entire age group regardless of the challenges the citizens face.
