About the job

Do you want to use your knowledge of accounting, VAT, duties and taxes to solve complex control cases aimed at uncovering fraud setups, money flows and money laundering and thus help solve an important societal task? Then read on!

Become part of Special Control in the Tax Administration

The Special Control field combats organized, systematic and complex tax-economic crime. We work concretely with a wide range of fraud types, including VAT and chain fraud, duty fraud, masked distributions and money laundering.

Special Control 9 is part of the Center for Tax Economic Crime and Money Laundering 2, which currently counts about 120 employees spread across six units. The center is led by a deputy director and is one of three centers in the Special Control area. In our center we view case handling and collaboration as an important part of our task, and we believe that the best results are created in collaboration. We closely follow the development of new fraud trends, where data and analysis provide new and significant perspectives on our authority task.

We solve complex control cases focusing on areas where companies and private individuals attempt to commit complex tax-economic crime, and where there is often – but not always – indication of punishable actions. Our task is for example to uncover and unravel possible fraud in complex constructions, which may involve several companies and actors, who can be based in Denmark or abroad. The control cases can concern both VAT, duties and tax.

The tasks are solved in close cooperation with units across the entire center and the Special Control area as well as the rest of the Tax Administration.

Controls with the aim of uncovering complex fraud setups, money flows and money laundering

As our new specialist you will have an exciting and varied everyday life. In case processing you will encounter many different professional issues, which can be complicated or never seen before. We are as a rule at least two colleagues on a case, and we quality assure our work. Your tasks include among others:

  • Initial investigations and planning of VAT, duty and tax controls
  • Conducting controls
  • Correspondence with taxpayers and their representatives
  • Preparation of proposals and decisions, etc.

The cases are sometimes carried out in cooperation with e.g. the police, the Debt Authority, foreign tax authorities and/or trustees in bankruptcy estates.

Curious specialists with professional insight

We imagine that you have a relevant education as a tax auditor, professional bachelor in tax, diploma in tax, HD, cand.merc. (aud. or jur.), or similar. Most importantly is that you have gained good competencies in areas such as VAT, duties, tax, accounting and administration – either through study or via your previous work experience. It is an advantage if you have strong VAT or duty competencies, but it is not a requirement.

In addition we value that you

  • Understand how to see connections, think in wholes and are sharp on which information is relevant and which are not
  • Can create structure in case handling
  • Are a team player with good collaboration skills, dialog abilities and thrive with a broad contact surface
  • Are strong at writing and can write clearly with regard to the recipient
  • Are results-oriented and can maintain an overview, even when the amount of information is extensive and cases are complex
  • Enjoy searching for a needle in a haystack and can follow the right tracks.

In our unit you will need curiosity, creativity, perseverance and meticulousness when tasks must be handled. High quality in task solving is crucial, and you will have the opportunity to develop through ongoing professional sparring with your colleagues, where knowledge sharing is essential for success with the task solution.

We prepare you well for the tasks

Through concrete cases we ensure that you are trained and developed, and we try to tailor the tasks according to our different professional competencies and interests. You will have the opportunity to participate in Special Control's Fraud Academy and other relevant courses and join professional networks.
