About us The school is located close to Amager's nature, where we have Amagerfælled in the backyard and a close collaboration with Tårnby Nature School. We have every opportunity to move teaching out of the classroom and into nature. We are an ambitious and development-oriented staff group focused on community and creating the best framework for students' learning and well-being in a professional learning community. We work a lot on strengthening students' well-being, including welfare initiatives during breaks and involving Skolestyrken.

We offer all newly employed a calm start and a mentoring scheme, where one of the school's advisers/cultural bearers closely follows to ensure the best possible start at Skelgårdsskolen. Skelgårdsskolen is a large public school with around 900 students and a total staff of around 120. The staff work in year-group teams with scheduled time for team collaboration.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment is in accordance with the applicable agreement with the Danish Teachers' Central Organization after negotiation.

In Tårnby Municipality we offer in cooperation with DLF, Sector 13 an induction program for newly qualified teachers and kindergarten class leaders. The induction program consists of three themed afternoons, and a “Know your municipality” event. The first two years as a newly qualified teacher you have reduced teaching time, and at all schools there is a mentoring scheme. We make an effort to give you a good start in the teaching life.

The municipality's hiring policy means that references are obtained from previous and current workplaces upon hiring. If you have been employed by Tårnby Municipality, a reference from there will always be obtained. In addition, upon hire, a criminal record and a children's record must be presented. Employment will be conditional on these being satisfactory.
