Søborg Church and Haraldskirken are seeking a skilled and engaged church caretaker.

We want the position filled as soon as possible.

We expect you to have the training as a church sexton, or be willing to take the mandatory 5 weeks of training as a sexton within the first 2 years of employment.

Our permanent team of church sextons consists of three sextons plus a substitute, and there is full and mutual on-call/ substitute duty among you during holidays, days off, illness and courses.

About the job

Being a sexton with us requires an independent and responsible person who has a strong sense of order and perhaps a practical hands-on ability. A person who enjoys meeting many different people and who can positively engage in cooperation with the church's other staff, priests and volunteers.

There will be job functions that take place outside normal working hours, late in the afternoon, in the evening or on weekends. For church services our sextons are always present and handle preparation, reception and clean-up.

A large part of the tasks consists of cleaning, maintenance, care of outdoor areas and preparation of events and activities throughout the church year. You must supervise the church and the surrounding buildings, just as the technical installations must be looked after and inspected. If faults and deficiencies are observed it is your responsibility to report these to our church wardens and to contact craftsmen.

It would be an advantage if you have some practical carpentry/handicraft skills, since you will supervise the craftsmen, and it would be advantageous if you can perform minor repairs yourself that do not require a formal trades education.

About you

You should have a flair for planning and structuring your workday. In addition it would be a plus if you over time can establish an overview of the sextet team's tasks. You should be prepared for preparation and cleanup in connection with church events, moving tables and chairs, lighter handyman tasks and much more.

You and your family must be prepared for you to work at Christmas, Easter and other holidays.

You will be the first to meet our churchgoers and visitors. Therefore you must be able to present yourself engaged, welcoming and friendly. You should be good at keeping calm and have an overview in busy situations.

The practical

We expect a weekly working time of 28-35 hours, depending on the applicant and competencies.

The employment is covered by the Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations, and the organizational agreement for church functionaries with core duties as sexton or grave-digger between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and Denmark's Sexton Association and the accompanying protocol for sextons.

Current civil servants employed as sextons have the right to retain their civil service status on appointment with direct transition. In that case a reclassification of the position must take place.

The annual salary is agreed within the range from kr. 324,667 to kr. 408,841

There is a duty to be available for the position.

The availability allowance amounts to annually kr. 33,230.62

OK allowance of annually kr. 1,400.52

The salary is prorated according to the agreed hours.

An agreement on placement in the salary range is made between the Parish Council and Denmark's Sexton Association.
