About the job
Can you spot a good story before others see it? Do you know what works on social media – and can you translate ideas into content that makes people stop and take notice? Then you might be our new colleague.
The Danish Prison Service carries out an important societal duty that many people do not have insight into or knowledge of. Therefore we are looking for a skilled SoMe specialist who will convey our stories in an authentic, present and nuanced way. We want to create greater openness about the important work that the staff of the Danish Prison Service undertake every day. At the same time, our communication is an important part of the work to attract new colleagues. Therefore we are looking for you, who can take responsibility for our ongoing presence on social media and help to develop it significantly.
You must bring our stories to life on social media
Your most important task will be to develop and produce content for social media. You must be able to find stories in everyday life and translate them into formats that work on each platform. It could be short interviews, explainers, reels, carousels, tests, an image with sharp text or a format we have not yet thought of. You must be able to film, photograph, edit, subtitle and write yourself and set it up on different platforms. You should have a sense of when something needs to be thoroughly worked out, and when the simple and authentic works best.
You must be able to translate goals into action
We set concrete goals for our social media efforts collectively – for example growth, reach, engagement and interest in our jobs and training. You must be able to take an overarching goal and translate it into a plan: What activities does it require? Which formats should we use? How much should we produce? And does this goal align with what you realistically can achieve?
Great independence – within a clear editorial framework
You will have great freedom to actively seek out stories, develop ideas, plan content and carry out productions where it happens – in our prisons, detention centers and other institutions. But the Danish Prison Service is also a public authority with topics that can have political, security and human significance. Therefore all content is editorially qualified and approved before publication.
You must therefore be able to stand behind your professional choices and thrive with the idea that angles, formulations or parts of your content may be changed along the way. We are looking for a colleague who dares to argue for their professional assessment – and who can translate feedback quickly and professionally.
You will become part of a small, specialized unit
You will be employed in the Office for Press, Communications and Campaigns in the Danish Prison Service. You will be attached to the unit that works with recruitment campaigns, employer branding and general content production for internal and external communication.
In the unit, we already have strong competences in areas such as campaign planning, journalism, video production and recruitment. Your particular area of expertise will be social media and ongoing digital content production. We are a small unit, and therefore we also help each other. You should be willing, occasionally, to take on tasks outside your primary area of responsibility.
We imagine that you
- have several years of professional experience with social media and content production, preferably from a larger public or private organization
- have a strong and up-to-date understanding of platforms, formats and user behavior
- can plan, develop and produce content from idea to finished product
- have an eye for authentic stories and can make people feel comfortable in front of the camera
- can work with goals, data and performance and translate them into concrete actions
- are independent, proactive and good at driving your own tasks forward
- have good communicative judgment and understand what it entails to communicate on behalf of a public authority
- thrive with editorial sparring, feedback and proofreading rounds
You do not need a specific education. We are more interested in what you can do, how you work, and what you have created previously.
Salary and employment terms
You will be employed as a Press and Communications Consultant. The position is 37 hours and to be filled on January 1, 2027.
Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement.

The employing area is The Danish Prison Service. The workplace is currently located at Strandgade 100, 1401 Copenhagen K.

BUT, you must not send us a generic cover letter. We will not read it.
You should instead send us a CV and content for three social media posts.
You must show us that you are the right fit for the position as if you were applying for the job directly through Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. You should therefore demonstrate that you understand how to tailor the message that you are the right candidate to each of the three platforms.
Of course, you should not post the posts, but set them up and cut them into a document and attach it to your application. Show us your creativity. We are always curious about new angles, and we like humor and a twinkle in the eye.
You are probably using AI, and we would really like to see the prompts you have used. Paste them at the bottom of the document with your content. If you have created video, you can link to it in your document or CV.
Application
The position is advertised electronically via the link "Apply for the job".
