About the job

Suicide Prevention Unit currently consists of 7 psychologists, a consulting physician specializing in psychiatry, a leader responsible for personnel budget, consulting social workers, and three secretaries.

As an experienced psychologist we expect that you can participate with sparring and coordination in the daily operations. This position offers a special opportunity to help set the framework and influence both daily operations and the region's suicide prevention work.

The unit's purpose is to handle subacute treatment as well as preventive efforts for individuals who have attempted suicide or have persistent suicidal thoughts and who are not the target group of psychiatry. The unit covers the entire region and has youth from 15 years and adults in its target group.

The treatment offering consists of short-term therapy or supportive conversations, supplemented with psychoeducation in groups. The offering includes patients in personal crisis possibly with mild depressive or anxiety symptoms. Patients with more severe psychiatric disorders are treated in the rest of psychiatry. The unit emphasizes the involvement of relatives and professional network persons in the process, and support and guidance to relatives and bereaved.

We are currently seeking a senior psychologist or a psychologist with broad and relevant experience to handle clinical work as well as to participate in coordinating tasks. The clinical work will consist of individual conversations, with a starting point in ACT and in David Jobes’ CAMS framework, but with freedom of method in the treatment. This also includes screening for mental disorders and referral of referred patients to the unit.

You will be required to take on an essential role for the unit, and we expect that you

  • Bring broad professional knowledge that can be used in patient pathways as well as for internal conferences etc.
  • Can independently manage short-term psychotherapeutic psychology programs in the unit
  • Share responsibility for cross-sector collaboration in psychiatry in terms of operations and secure patient flow
  • Co-responsible for framing, supervising and creating good conditions for staff task fulfillment
  • Co-responsible for recruitment, onboarding and retention of staff in the unit and ensuring the workplace as an attractive place of work and education
  • Co-responsible for good cooperation and working environment in the unit
  • Opportunity for daily presence

In addition to the daily operations in the unit, you will be required to undertake tasks outside the house, e.g. participate in sparring with the other suicide prevention clinics in Denmark, participate in various national suicide prevention councils, etc.

Qualifications

  • Senior psychologist, specialist or psychologist with clinical practice training or the like. We prefer someone with experience in the adult psychiatry area and/or child/youth area.
  • Is motivated for coordinating and operational tasks in the unit. Good at initiating and continually supporting short- and long-term plans/directions for the unit.
  • Good collaboration skills and good communication abilities
  • Ability to motivate and give professional sparring
  • Ability to achieve results based on collaboration and coordination
  • Interested in the perspectives of working in short-term therapy
  • Particularly interested in suicide prevention work and has experience with this
  • Flexible, has overview and good collaboration skills in a cross-disciplinary group
  • Open to undertaking teaching tasks

We offer

  • An exciting and challenging job where the combination of operational tasks and clinical work with patients goes hand in hand
  • Depending on the applicant's area of expertise, there is an opportunity to work with both local suicide prevention interventions and to work more nationwide on the suicide prevention area.
  • Many outward-facing and independent tasks.
  • Broad interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Close collaboration in a small outpatient clinic with ample opportunity for collegial sparring and a strong focus on well-being and a relaxed, safe working environment
  • Opportunities to participate in relevant courses, theme days and supervision
  • Be part of a team that works purposefully on the development of the area
